Ad | The two things I’ve wanted in this kitchen since the day I moved in are here - shelves instead of cupboards and a table that’s long and narrow enough that I don’t need a map to walk through my kitchen.
@domli_uk have the best selection of different woods, finishes and custom sizes so you can create the piece that’s perfect for you. I went with oak across my shelves and table top, sanded so that I could finish them with my favourite Osmo Top Oil in white and added a living edge oak chopping board which really elevates the kitchen side.

Ad | What do you need more of in your life always? Gold, gold, gold. Everyone keeps asking what the attic room is going to be for and for now it’s the place where my posh frocks live. Ive created this little area to sit and ponder whilst I decide what to wear.
I couldn’t resist this gorgeous lamp from @rockettstgeorge.co.uk and lucky for me I had the perfect outfit to pair it with. The big question is am I dressing like my home or is my home dressing like me?!
LOU20 is back just in time for pay day guys, don’t say I don’t do anything for you ⚜️

The reason I rarely do how to reels is because the only difference between me and you is that I picked up the sander, I’m no expert and sometimes I do things knowing full well it’s not the right way but I will always give anything a go.
Things I did “wrong” in the last few days
- I decided I was ripping the carpets up on bank holiday weekend, you can’t hire floor sanders on bank holiday weekends (although I’ve only done this once anyway)
- I decided to just crack on even though I knew my roller was absolutely fudged on my belt sander, so I got through 15 sanding belts before I decided I was being stupid
- It took my an hour to rewire an old belt sander so I could use this instead (I sanded over the wire on another project) and I blew the fuse twice
- I’ve never sanded a floor with the grain (sacrilege)
- I hammer in nails after I’ve tried super hard to sand them first in case I can get away with it
- The likelihood of me finishing this with a fine sandpaper is next to zero, I can’t be bothered, I think I’ve only done that once and can’t tell the difference
- I didn’t attach my sander to a hoover to minimise dust
- I used two different grit sanding belts because it was all that was in stock at Toolstation
- I have no idea what I’m doing with the rest of the room when I finish the floor yet
- I didn’t tape up the door and now my carpet and pile of stuff at the top of the stairs is covered in sawdust
I’m not the best, the quickest, the cleanest or the most knowledgable, even after six floors, but I do what works for me and that’s the beauty of DIY. You can watch lots of videos of people doing things properly and then give it a go and realise you’re only doing it for yourself. So just call me Captain Bodge because honestly there’s nothing professional going on here so my only “how to” is how to just start.
