Baby pony did good!

A 4th in the 80cm and just some green striding meant they took poles in their first 90. Not a look at any of the fences though and a happy face the whole way round.

We thought Woody was chilled, but Quinn is another level of chilled. Literally the easiest baby in every way.

Shoes off, measured one day to his first barefoot comp the next.

Last ride of 2023…

Another wet miserable one I’m afraid. Which pretty much sums up 2023 for us personally.

Let’s hope 2024 will be a better year for everyone!

What a fab way for Ellenna to end the 2023 competition season…

First competition with Quinn 🥰

Ellenna did a great job to help Quinn round safely and confidently with a steady 70 round. Plenty of green moments, but a clear was all we wanted and they placed 4th.

The 80 didn’t have many entries. They were going for speed which we weren’t there for. Much to our surprise, Ellenna and Quinn were called in 1st.

Slow and steady does sometimes win the race! 😉

The venue is a beautiful place, but we find even the best take a look if the light is low (shines through the sides and makes shadows), with the internal cafe etc and it certainly caused some problems for people yesterday.

The warm up was interesting with riders out of control and whaling and even being abusive to others. I felt for poor Quinn being put under such pressure, we had to leave the arena a few times to avoid the chaos. The organisers did such a good job considering and the judge was incredibly encouraging and supportive of all those who tried their best even when it didn’t go to plan, but rightly pulled up those who let the equestrian sport down.

All in all good day, lots learnt and experienced and we are looking forward to more in 2024 🤞🏻⭐️💙🐴

A super first BS training for these new combinations…..

Winter is having to be a quiet one for us, but training sessions like this keep the spirits high and make us excited for next year.

Amber and Zeta’s turn for a before and after from dressage this week….

Shocking quality I’m afraid. My phone is rather old 🙈

To see this pony dropping her head and being so quiet in the mouth with a bit in makes our hearts happy.

She really has transformed since we bought her. She’s learnt not to worry, or become anxious and go round at lightening speed all the time. She is actually more kick than pull now!

Adjustments to her diet have helped greatly, thank you Zeta no longer shows sign of discomfort in her tummy or whilst in season.
Making work with her inhand and ridden a lot less stressful.

We are so proud of you Zeta we can wait to see what next year holds for you and Amber

Before and after photos….

Quinn, he’s tucked under and prefers to be held together. If you ask him to carry himself he goes into giraffe mode and becomes insecure.

He’s is however coming around to the idea that he can work from behind and relax.

All teeth checked, necessary teeth removed, saddle done, just Physio to do in Jan, but I’m confident he just needs time.

Love winter dressage training…

Especially when the baby ponies smash it like they did this evening.

Sassy pants Zeta was super chilled and much happier in the contact than I’ve ever seen her when wearing a bitted bridle. We were all rather shocked.

Then Quinny, well he was mega. First ride at his new home, first time away from new home, oh and in the dark and he smashed it!

At 4yrs old he’s got sooo much to learn, particularly on the flat, which doesn’t come as naturally as jumping to him, but his willingness to learn really shone through this evening.

This little girl is so strong minded, life is her way or no way which can be difficult at times….

However she is the kindest, most passionate child and this little mare is lucky to have found her.

Zeta is a work in progress, but with Ambers help she is getting there.

A first time for them both at PC champs today….

Woody had never competed on grass until today either - our preparation for today got cancelled 😬
We had no need to worry though as he jumped his socks off for just four faults in the second course.

Unfortunately it wasn’t our teams day, the courses were causing problems and poles to fall for many riders, but we all had a great time and I can happily say each combination got round and left with something positive to focus on for the future.

Well done Team Ludlow!
