RSVP: https://bit.ly/2ZUZZlN

Do you want to get on podcasts as a guest or bring on top rated guests in your industry/niche to your show?

There are a number of reasons why you might want to appear as a guest:

- You might want to promote your own podcast
- You might want to reach people in your target market
- You might want to grow your audience by promoting a popular article you’ve written

Being a podcast guest is a great way to get in front of your ideal customers/clients - and build your audience - fast. It’s also a great way to build trust quickly. Join us for another great meetup to discuss these topics and tap into some great templates that I'll share that has worked for me and some of the shows of my clients.

Special guest: We will be joined by Karl Sona of The Free Time Podcast https://apple.co/3iPekt0 to share some excited news about a new resource/tool for beginning and seasoned podcasters that they can implement immediately to free up more time to focus on whats important;sharing your voice to your audience.

If you want to gain access to the FREE templates, forms, and workflow RSVP on Eventbrite https://bit.ly/2ZUZZlN so we can send you the zip files zia email.

See you all soon!

Day #25. Review everything

Take the day to listen to the episodes you just edited and re-read your show notes. Nothing is going to be perfect but it doesn’t hurt to give it a once over.

Day #24. Create show notes for completed episodes

Doing all of your show notes at the same time will make it much easier in the long run. Make sure all of your show notes mention:

🎧 Your podcast website

🎧 Where your podcasts can be found on social media

🎧 Keywords for your topic

🎧 Keywords for your podcast in general

🎧 Important reference information like your theme music and anyone you want to thank

Day #20 to 23. Edit what you’ve recorded

Truthfully, editing isn’t that challenging but it is time-consuming. Especially when it’s new. So take your time and do it right. It’s OK if you don’t get everything done in this time period, just move from one episode to the next one.

Check out a new and up and coming "turnkey" solution to editing and publishing + show notes/social media graphics at https://www.streamlinedpodcasts.com/

Day #18 to 19. Record your first few episodes

Batch record whatever you have access to right now. Just go for it.

Remember, you can prepare an outline or script but allow yourself to go with the flow of your shared thoughts or insights from your guest. Dont have the equipment or want to test out a local studio, check out my previous post on Dallas/Fort Worth podcast stuido listings.

Day #16. Publish your trailer

NO ONE IS LISTENING. You are safe to publish your trailer, the only people who will hear it are those approving your show. We can delete it later.

We are doing this for two reasons:

▶️ You have now published your first something ever. The second time will still be nerve-wracking, but it won’t be as bad because you’ve done it once before.

▶️ You can now submit to iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher etc., this is important because a lot of these platforms have waiting periods to actually publish your content. So hopefully when you’re ready to officially launch,

Day #15. Edit your trailer and choose your theme music

It’s time to do your first editing. Your trailer does not need a lot of editing. You’ll want to add theme music to it (which you will most likely have to pay for, do not use your favourite Top 100 song, that’s not legal). And take out any obvious mistakes.

Remember that this is your VERY FIRST so it’s OK if it sucks. It’s supposed to suck.

Get some experience editing on your own with FREE tools like Garageband or Audacity. Then if your crunched for time you can hire a profession if you have the funds. Remember, Upwork and Fiverr are your friends.

Day #14. Create your season trailer

There is going to be A LOT of people that disagree with what I’m about to tell you to do, but we’ll touch on that in a moment. Today, you’re going to write AND RECORD your podcast trailer — hopefully, your microphone is here.

Your podcast trailer should be short and simple — 30 seconds to two minutes. It needs to describe your podcast, share the release date and introduce yourself. Nothing more, nothing less.

Remember.... fiverr.com is your friend. 😀

Day #13. Create your show’s artwork

If you have money, I highly recommend getting a professional (or anyone with any design experience) to do this for you. But, most of us don’t. Some great ones are Upwork and Fiverr. Direct message me for who I recommend specifically on each platform.

If that’s the case for you, I recommend using Canva (this is an affiliate link) to create your own. It does not have to be a visual masterpiece, but do make sure that all of your text can be read and there isn’t too much text on it. Join Canva with my link and get rewards! If you ever need to create a graphic, poster, invitation, logo, presentation – or anything that looks good — give Canva a go. https://www.canva.com/join/walks-marsh-spiced

Many new podcasters pack their cover artwork with so much content it’s distracting — go for clean, simple and clear. 🎨

Day #12. Create your online marketing channels

Pick your social media channel. I highly recommend focusing on at least 2 channels instead of blasting everything out to all your channels. You can always add more later as you grow. There’s nothing wrong with grabbing the handle on all of the channels but focus on one.

Purchase your domain name. Yes, I firmly believe that your podcast needs a website. Why? Because you control the content and eventually there’s a possibility of using it for monetization, along with a ton of other benefits. If you can do it, do. However, if you cannot afford to purchase a domain name or afford hosting, then it is OK to delay for now.

Decide on your website hosting. I use Bluehost (yes, this is an affiliate link) because it’s cheap and easy-to-use. There are a few downsides to using them, like the fact that it’s shared hosting, but we’ve had no issues with them over the past two-and-a-half years and they’re a great starter host.

Open your podcast email. Your podcast needs an email, we’ll chat about setting up an email marketing platform later. Yes, you can have a Gmail, but it looks much more professional to be [email protected] … we’re [email protected]

Decide on an email marketing host. Pick a free one, there are dozens out there.

Day #6 to 11. Start working on the episodes

You are finally ready to get started on your first episodes!

If you’re doing a podcast where you’re an expert, then this might just include you spending a bit of time laying out points that you want to talk about instead of a full script. Or, if you’re doing an interview-style of podcast, this might involve reaching out to potential guests.

You have the next (approximately) four days to start creating the magic. They do not have to be perfect, so just power through. If you finish all 10 before the days are up then awesome, if you still have work to do, that’s fine. Either way, spend a few days just crafting and creating content — we’ll record it later.

Day #5. Work out your logistics

BEFORE we get into content...... Its a good idea for you to make decisions on a few more logistical matters.

Namely, you need to decide on the following things:

💡 What technical equipment do you need (and how much money do you have to spend on it if you need it) — order this today so you have it when you’re ready to record. If you don’t have the money for equipment, skip it. Lots of us started with nothing.

💡 Decide who you’re going to host with.

💡 Decide how you’re going to get the editing done. What software do you need and how much will it cost.

💡 Decide how you’re going to record, specifically if you’re doing this remotely. Will it cost anything? Do you have the budget?

Day #4. Plan your first 10 episodes

Its said that most business fail 1 year of starting. In podcasting data shows that that magic number is 7. So do yourself a favor a commit to the 1st 10 episodes to get ahead of the curve. Here’s what you want to layout for each episode:

🎤 Tentative title
🎤 Episode subject
🎤 Any prospective guests
🎤 The release date
🎤 Notes about the description and any research you need

Day #3. Plan your show

Before you get started booking interviews or writing episodes, take a few minutes to hammer out some of the materials and information that you’ll have to use throughout your journey. While you might be itching to start on your episodes, getting these out of the way will help you down the line when you’re in a crunch to launch.

Specifically, work out:

A brief show description — 100 words or less about the who, what, where and when of your podcast

A longer show description — 100 to 300 words describing in more detail your show. This should include keywords and other important elements like your website and social handles, you can use this in your show notes to get keywords in there.

Start SLOW and don’t over commit! It’s OK to release a podcast once a month or bi-weekly. Yes, it will likely grow faster if you release it more often but consistency is key.

Day #2. Name your show

Note that I’m giving you a whole day to plan the name for your show. Do some research, ask around, come up with something that you like… that said, note that you’re not married to your name either. You can change it down the line.

Need help? DM me for a killer mind mapping tool to get you started. 😀

Day #1. Pick your topic

What do you want to podcast about? Don’t focus on what the most popular or profitable podcasts are, go with what you’re passionate about. If you’re not passionate about it, you’ll end up quitting before you’ve really begun. Also, you’re not married to your topic — so just pick and move on!

A solid podcast can be created in 30 days.

The pandemic has been around now and most people have been working from home for about 60 days. Have you been wanting to launch for podcast and still haven't? You've missed 2 opportunities to do so, but there is still time. 😀

With the country opening up again and many transitioning back to work, time will probably be more limited. Don't miss out on the next 30 day cycle.

STARTING JUNE 1 through the next 30 DAYS we will be sharing resources & tips on how to launch your podcast in 30 days regardless of where you are in the process. Tag a friend that might benefit, like our page or sign up on our private meetup group to get these notifications each day.

Follow for IGTV & LIVE Q&A at 7pm CST Thursdays (each week): https://www.instagram.com/mcharlesjr/

Good luck!
