Let's get back to the music! Our first feature for season 3 is no other than, Benita! Benita (aka The Doobie Wrap Duo's BONITA APPLEBUM; insider*) is an independent artist and songwriter hailing from Toronto, Canada. She is known for her versatility that "bleeds through the music she makes as she visits different elements of R&B, Pop, and Alternative without being put into a box." Even though she has been musically inspired by artists like Rihanna, Beyonce, and Drake, she gained a lot of her talent from listening to Bollywood music as a child because of having West Indian parents. With this season being about "Behind the Scenes," we had to bring Benita through because she spends a lot of time "behind the scenes writing for developing, upcoming and signed artists."

Benita has sung background vocals for fellow Canadian artist Daniel Caesar and has also opened up for Kehlani alongside Toronto duo TRP.P at the 2018 Pride Festival in Toronto. "In 2019, Benita reached the top 10 list of CBC's Canada-wide Searchlight competition for her submission of her debut single 'Anything.' She recently graduated from the vocal recording program at The Remix Project in 2019. Her goal as an artist is to inspire people the same way her idols did growing up. She has and will continue to win over listeners with pure boldness and vulnerability in her music."

We started a podcast 1 year ago during the pandemic with no idea of what we were doing, but with a big dream on what we could become. This is a podcast that discusses topics (majority music) that we are passionate about. We live our lives with compassion for creatives, artists, entertainers, entrepreneurs…and the list goes on. Everyday, we wish for everyone who fits in those categories to live their life pursuing their passion with no holds bar. Life is too short to not do what you love and what makes you happy. We support you. And thank you for supporting us.

Interesting fact: Studies have shown that native Spanish speakers may take longer to learn English at a proficient level compared to any other subgroup. What’s so amazing to see is how quickly you can learn English (or another language for that matter) if you study it through music/song.

Through continuously imitating and singing a song, in English, to the point where it becomes a chant, subconsciously you are teaching your brain and mouth pattern of sounds independent from the vocabulary or meaning.
..this is what did. Her determination to dream big and her love of music has gotten her to where she is today! It’s your time!
