JOSEPH BIDEN PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION CEREMONY

WASHINGTON - Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn into office at noon on January 20, 2021, in Washington, D.C. The presidential oath is mandated by the United States Constitution. It is typically administered by the chief justice of the Supreme Court but that is not a requirement.

The mandated oath reads: "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

A public ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2021, on the West Front of the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The event will be the 59th presidential inauguration. Biden will take the oath of office as president on that day, and Harris will take the oath of office as vice president.

The inauguration will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, on the west front of the US Capitol in Washington, DC. Each elected US president's term starts at noon on that day, according to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. The president-elect is required to take the oath of office before assuming duties. Following the presidential swearing-in ceremony, Biden will deliver his inaugural address.
