Police and Thieves
Cut short by ZJB management for violating journalistic code, but which journalistic codes were not identified to me.
ZJB management says that I "embellished" - I played the gender card and would cause a rift!! - when I made the recommendation that the men involved in the justice, law enforcement and political leadership, legislating and policy-making for Montserrat - the premier, the COP the DPP, the Premier, the ministers of government who are all men - really ought to get together and figure out solutions for these kinds of matters when they arise.
So, he terminated the programme.
Radio Montserrat self-censored. Without cause. Absent any reason.
So, ZJB is making the exact case that I make, to wit, that the flow of information and opportunities for deep intelligent, informed discourse on matters of the greatest significance and consequence, are being denied the people of Montserrat, by the government controlled media. And it is so severe now, that the station, itself, is self-censoring.

Talking about Health - PREVENTIVE health - i.e. keeping the people of Montserrat well so that they go to England to die less - and so that our not getting a really good hospital won't matter that much.

Food security means more than just having a glut of onions or almost enough chicken.
Food security means growing enough of the right kinds of food all the time, on island - some basics, the agreed-upon staples - and growing them healthily - organically - so that people will not be at risk of illnesses later on.
Food security is also a future thing, safeguarding the health of Montserrrat's people's into the future - so that we develop our little island better and survive better even without a good hospital.

Voluntary exile is not always sad; involuntary exile never is not sad.
Voluntary exile is sometimes like Bob Marley sang about running away to live to fight another day.
Involuntary exile, on the other hand, is a kind of death. A kind of death in which too many Montserratians now live. Some were forced to leave in the "height of the volcanic crisis" and are still unhappy - resigned, even.
Others are feeling pushed out, fourced out again now, but why? What is the crisis? What is the danger they are fleeing?

The programme BrainPower, will not be aired on ZJB Radio Montserrat this afternoon, Monday, December 12th.
It is a ticklish episode, I grant. It is political in nature which, of course, every single episode has always been, but this one is much too political; it is talk of much too straight a kind for the government radio. I totally get that. I am neither surprised nor upset.
In this episode, I say, among other things, how dismayed I am at the lies that our political and government leaders tell in parliament and in their press conferences. I say, for example, that the governor's statement that there are no British police officers working in Montserrat as British police officers, but that they are working for the Commissioner of the RMPS "is not a lie, but it is!" Every Montserratian recognises that obfuscation!
That looseness with the truth is problematic for me and for the government radio, but for different reasons, obviously.
You will notice that right from the start, I said that BrainPower would "challenge assumptions and push envelopes". Well, the envelopes have been pushed as far out as they could go, evidently.
I also said, right up front, right from the very beginning, that BrainPower would be honest and straightforward Montserratian talk. But radio has its limitations where that is concerned. Government radio has more of those than any other.
I had been working on the social media programming for BrainPower, though, as some of you will know, so no worries. As has always been the case with the radio programme, there will be no lies, no slander and libel, but there will be facing the facts and events head on, calling a spade a spade and all that.
I believe firmly that anything less is just exactly that - less.
That's BrainPower.
So, as soon as it is prepared for this medium, I shall post today's programme online so you can hear it anyway.
I shall be meeting on the matter with ZJB later this week, because of course, I totally understand their position, and I will let you know how it goes.
