‘The fire is now lit’ Panto reignites after 2 year break

The Pantograph, official English Publication of Supang - Datag National High School reignites its flames for school press powers as it screens potential student journalists on September 5, 2023 after a two year break.

Existing Senior members of the publication team have met the aspiring campus scribes through an orientation and thorough screening of the applicants gathered from both online submissions and room to room orientations.

A total of 20 applicants showcased skills in writing, photojournalism and illustrations during the said screening program with more applicants expected to be screened on the coming days.

Senior members expressed their gratitude for the warm start of the new press season stating that this journey is only the first challenge towards mastery and journalism excellency.

READ| Official Statement of Secretary Leonor Briones regarding the opening of classes to be moved at October 5.

This morning, we received a memorandum from the Office of the President that the President has already made the decision in respect to the recommendation that I have submitted to him on August 6, in response to the implications of imposition of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Metro Manila and in the provinces of Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna and Rizal.

As per the memorandum, the President has given approval to the recommendation of DepEd. Thus, we will implement such a decision to defer school opening to October 5 pursuant to Republic Act No. 11480. We shall use the deferment to provide relief to the logistical limitations faced by the areas placed under MECQ and to fill in the remaining gaps of the school opening that we are currently addressing.

Areas outside MECQ are directed to continue their orientations, dry runs, and delivery of learning resources so that we will be ready for the opening of classes on October 5.

We trust that this is the final adjustment of the school opening. Even with the implementation of MECQ, we will use this time to make the necessary adjustments and ensure that all preparations have been made for the successful opening of classes for School Year 2020-2021.

In this Dark Times, we The Pantograph is with you all in this crisis. We may be experiencing troubled times but there is always a rainbow after the rain. Let us all do our part in fighting this pandemic because no matter how micro our effort may be, this can have macro effects in our society. By doing so, we will not be waiting much longer to once again be sheltered by Education in this place we call, our second home.

Clarification:

There is still no Executive Order Released by Acting Governor Shirley Abundo corresponding the suspension of classes tomorrow (March 16, 2020).

Still, all are advised to stay at home and perform proper hygiene and social distancing.

As of now, there is 140 cases of Covid-19 in the country and 11 has already died.

Due to Covid-19, This year's Foundation Day Celebration supposed to happen on March 24, 2020 is postponed. This includes the coronation of Mr. And Miss Foundation Day and the Festivals of Festivals Competition.

Each year, it is a tradition to celebrate the Buwan ng Wika culminating activity with a filipino feast showcasing various delicacies from every inch of the country. This is also part of the DepEd memorandum of the said event.

This year's Buwan ng Wika coincides with the theme: Wikang Katutubo; Tungo sa Isang Bandang Filipino.
