A Must-Do in Innsbruck!

From the Old Town, you can catch the gondola up the Nordkette Mountain Range for some amazing views of the city and surrounding area!

It isn't expensive to do and there is parking for bikes and cars at the base!

Once you are up, you can spend as much time as you like prior to the last run, enjoy a bit to eat or drink at their restaurant plus climb even higher for a view of the platform itself and maybe even find some snow in June!

Check out our latest episode - 'Beginners Guide to Innsbruck, Austria'

I (Meggan) am not a huge drinker however we do enjoy checking out the night life in cities we visit and through the magic of Google reviews, we found the highly rated M+M Cocktail bar in Innsbruck.

They have an outdoor space plus an up and downstairs inside. They have a very large selection of drinks, bar snacks and a great atmosphere - we cannot recommend this spot enough!

My favourite drink was the Cherry Vanilla Pina Colada - one of the best beverages I have ever consumed! If you go, TRY IT!

'Beginners Guide to Innsbruck, Austria' - OUT NOW!

We are so jealous that we are missing the Christmas Markets in Europe right now so we decided to do a Beginners Guide so maybe you can make plans for Innsbruck next year!

Maria Theresien Strasse (Street) is located in Innsbruck's Old Town and is one of the city's most famous streets!

There is amazing architecture, history, shops, cafes, restaurants and people watching - you never know what you will see or find and it should be high on your list of things to do!

I hope you enjoyed the recap of my trip to Amsterdam!

Amsterdam has become one of my top favourite cities so far in the world - it has something for EVERYONE.

There are so many sides to this amazing city including history, food, culture, the Red Light District, "coffee" shops, people watching, beautiful canals, great public transportation and literally something new to see or do around every corner!

We hope to go back for a quick visit someday and then get out into the countryside of The Netherlands because we know there is so much more to see in this small but very beautiful country!

If and when you go to Amsterdam - take a canal cruise!

This amazing option gives you a new perspective of the city and a great guide can give you a lot of history and interesting information. This was exact experience we had with Pure Boats Amsterdam

They offer several types of cruises however we chose this particular tour & company as we wanted a nice boat, highly rated, an open bar with snacks and one that was a bit longer. Ours was 2 hours in length, the perfect amount of time. This was not the family option but they do offer other types of cruises that families can enjoy.

We loved what we learned from Klaas, our guide and we met some great people from all over the world. Simply cannot recommend enough but as you will learn once you arrive in Amsterdam - there are MANY companies offering cruises so your only issue might be, which one to choose!?

'Exploring Amsterdam: Tips, Tastes, and Travel Tales from Meggan'

Our advice - take at least one day and get outside of the city.

For us that meant visiting windmills at Zaanse Schans.

We took a train, it was cheap and quick with a 10-15 minute walk after we got off the train to get to the windmills. Is it touristy? Yes. Was it a good experience AND free? Also yes!

You can also take the bus to visit the site or a guided tour - we enjoyed wandering around on our own. In the village there is also a cheese shop and farm animals onsite plus, you can grab some delicious hot chocolate to keep you warm!

We couldn't resist a picture with the wooden shoes. **Well Peter could have resisted the picture but I could not haha** Have fun!!

We aren't huge museum folks however we decided to take the free ferry from Central Station in Amsterdam and visit the street art museum - Straat.

The musuem is 19.50 Euros for adults if you reserve the tickets on their website and there are also guided tours you can book as well.

We did not have tickets in advance, we went around mid-afternoon on a Thursday and had no issues getting in. It was not busy and it was worth the visit - 100%!

There were silly, poignant, thought provoking and down right wild street art installations and we spent quite a bit of time there and really enjoyed it!

Highly recommend - have you ever been to Straat?!

'Exploring Amsterdam: Tips, Tastes, and Travel Tales from Meggan' - out now!

We had a lot of amazing food while in Amsterdam including Italian, Korean and some local favourites including Stroopwafel and Bitterballen plus fries & mayo, of course!

We did both take out and eat in and eating while on the go which included Febo! You go in and the food is waiting for you; you pay via card or smartwatch, open the little slot and eat!

We don't love being on a strict dinner schedule so we didn't go places that required reservations however there are SO MANY restaurants! You can always find one and if you eat at non-typical hours, even better - there will be a table!

Latest Episode - 'The Benefits of Small Group Travel with Origin Travels'

This was Origin Travels’ first international trip in the second era of the company. The Egypt trip showcases the ethos of an OT trip – blending must-see sites (the pyramids of course) with off the beaten path experiences (sailing on a traditional felucca, stargazing and spending the night on the shore of the Nile).

On this trip, the group has a dedicated and incredible local guide the whole time, stays in locally owned accommodations and has the opportunity to taste lots of local dishes.

Sandra cried at the airport when the trip was over because after months of laptop time, working on getting the business back up after the pandemic, travelling with an incredible group who had a transformative trip brought back the WHY of why she works so hard and believes in this company. Oh and the group got along so well they just organized themselves a little reunion weekend trip!

Out Now - 'The Benefits of Small Group Travel with Origin Travels'

Welcome to Origin Travels’ jungle home in Costa Rica. This is where their groups stay for a week of adventure and relaxation in the lesser travelled part of the country – the Nicoya Peninsula.

They stay here because money from the accommodations goes to help the animal rescue centre (located on the same property). The centre rescues animals in the area – mainly Scarlett Macaws and howler monkeys – that have been injured (howler monkeys for example get burned on electrical wires. Animal injuries due to humans coming into the area).

They rehabilitate them with the goal to get them back out into the wild. This also puts you so close to nature for the week (see the monkey party they got lucky enough to be part of on their last trip)

New Episode out today! We are joined by Sandra from Origin Travels

Origin Travels is a tour company that facilitates small group trips for solo travellers and custom trip planning!

Sandra’s first group trip with Origin Travels was the Road to Rainbows trip to India. This was her first group trip ever and she couldn’t believe how quickly the women all clicked with each other, how safe it felt to travel with a group and local guide and what a difference this made in the overall experience of the country, how much she learned from the locals along the way and the other women on the trip and how transformative a travel experience can be when you get out of your comfort zone (ie. join a group of strangers to explore a country you’ve never been to). Safe to say, she was hooked on OT experiences after this.

No matter how excited you are for your adventures on vacation - whether you are going to see waterfalls or mountains, if you are not taking the rental car insurance - TAKE VIDEOS AND PICTURES! They have timestamps!

A big key if you have to file any kind of claim with a travel credit card is going to be before and after pictures as well as documentation from your initial reservation. Plus, proof of your payment of the rental, the agreement itself and the proof you returned the car amongst other things. A lot goes into filing a claim and you need ALL the stuff and things!

On Meggan's recent trip to Iceland in June of 2024, they opted not to take the rental agency's insurance and used their Travel credit card insurance instead.

Their windshield was cracked by a rock within our first few days and on this episode, Meggan gives an update on what happened once they returned home and that process, she can assure, won't be for everyone so tune in and let us know what you think!

Have you ever used your credit card as rental insurance?

Out Now - 'Navigating Credit Card Travel Insurance: Lessons Learned'

When choosing a travel credit, you’ll have to decide which features are most important to you! For me, I really wanted a card that included lounge access and wasn’t specific to one airline. I ended up choosing the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite since it also waives foreign transaction fees!

Do you have a travel credit card you love?
