No matter how excited you are for your adventures on vacation - whether you are going to see waterfalls or mountains, if you are not taking the rental car insurance - TAKE VIDEOS AND PICTURES! They have timestamps!

A big key if you have to file any kind of claim with a travel credit card is going to be before and after pictures as well as documentation from your initial reservation. Plus, proof of your payment of the rental, the agreement itself and the proof you returned the car amongst other things. A lot goes into filing a claim and you need ALL the stuff and things!

On Meggan's recent trip to Iceland in June of 2024, they opted not to take the rental agency's insurance and used their Travel credit card insurance instead.

Their windshield was cracked by a rock within our first few days and on this episode, Meggan gives an update on what happened once they returned home and that process, she can assure, won't be for everyone so tune in and let us know what you think!

Have you ever used your credit card as rental insurance?

Out Now - 'Navigating Credit Card Travel Insurance: Lessons Learned'

When choosing a travel credit, you’ll have to decide which features are most important to you! For me, I really wanted a card that included lounge access and wasn’t specific to one airline. I ended up choosing the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite since it also waives foreign transaction fees!

Do you have a travel credit card you love?

New Episode Out Today - 'Navigating Credit Card Travel Insurance: Lessons Learned'

Join us this week as we give an update/final outcome on Meggan's Visa travel insurance with the cracked windshield on their rental in Iceland and Jenn fills us in on how she chose a travel credit card!

TIP: If you have it, it’s handy to travel with the pamphlet from your travel credit card! It has all of the phone numbers you might need if you run into any issues! (this came in handy for Meggan in Iceland)

Jenn decided to keep mine right in my travel wallet, along with our passports!

We hope you have enjoyed our 'Beginners Guide to Frankfurt'!

One thing I have learned over the years of travelling is not everywhere has to be the latest trending spot to grab a meal and honestly those spots are often crowded and disappointing. If you find somewhere that you like and isn't too crazy expensive and is reliable - you eat there and that is the big secret, in my opinion!

That is what we found at Coffee Fellows - an amazing spot for breakfast, reasonably priced, a great coffee and don't miss their red velvet muffins!

In the heart of Frankfurt am Main you can find the Frankfurt Cathedral!

It is not only the largest religious building in Frankfurt but used to be where medieval German Emperors were crowned - so much history in this city and country! 🇩🇪

Frankfurt's Kleinmarkthalle houses a small yet mighty spot to get yourself a tasty frankfurter!

The "little market hall" is a great alternative to a big meal with fresh and prepared food options.

We heard about it by watching a Rick Steves video about the city of Frankfurt before we travelled there and knew if Rick thought it was special, we had to check it out! The ladies were so sweet and friendly - what a great find and delicious, besides!

Check out our 'Beginners Guide to Frankfurt' wherever you download your podcasts!

Another free activity is to take a stroll along the Main River - Frankfurt's actual name is: Frankfurt am Main as it is located on the River Main (pronounced in English like Mine, I am sure we butchered this on the podcast so our English apologies) 😅

There is a lot of water fowl on the river and spots to sit at a long the river as well areas for biking and running and strolling! Relax and enjoy!

When visiting Frankfurt - a great free activity is taking a stroll across the Iron Footbridge - the Eiserner Steg - also known as the love lock bridge!

This is the only footbridge across the Main River for pedestrians only and you can check out and add your love lock plus have a spectacular view of the skyline of the city!

Have you ever walked across this footbridge? We all love a free activity, right!? 😀

Check out our most recent episode: 'Beginners Guide to Frankfurt' out now!

The Main Tower open air observation deck is a must do for amazing views of the city; this is the fourth tallest building in the city!

The cost for adults is 9 Euro and there are options for family ticket packages and children under 6 are free.

This is a weather dependent activity but well worth it if you have the time to visit. When we visited in 2022 we did not buy tickets in advance, we showed up early and had no issues getting tickets!

OUT NOW - 'Beginners Guide to Frankfurt'

Frankfurt was mostly destroyed by Allied Forces bombing in WW2, however Frankfurt's 'new' Old Town has been resurrected with a section between the cathedral and Römer town hall being rebuilt between 2012-2018.

This area of town is also rebuilt with modern buildings and offices as well around 200 people living there amongst numerous cafes and restaurants, etc

It is a historic area not to be missed on a visit to the city!

'All About Passports: History, e-Passports and Passport Privilege'

As of our recording of this episode, the country with the best passport privilege was Singapore with their citizens being able to visit 195 countries visa free or visa-upon-arrival which is incredible. This is ranked by the Henley Passport Index.

Did you know 199 passports are ranked and some countries have as little as 26 countries their citizens can visit visa free?

The list is updated monthly - check out our show notes for the complete list and we discuss a few countries of interest and their ranking during the episode.

Let’s talk about ePassports!

Over 100 countries are now using ePassports, which have a data chip embedded in them. There are many benefits, but stronger identity checks reduce the risk of other countries putting visa requirements on travellers!

Plus, the information on the e-chip cannot be read unless the passport is held within 10 centimetres of an ePassport reader, so it’s fairly safe!

You can tell if your passport is an ePassport by the symbol on the front!

'All About Passports' - OUT NOW!

We were wondering… do the colours of passports mean anything?

Turns out… not really! Many countries choose darker colours because they are more official-looking, so that’s why we typically see navy, dark green, maroon/red and black.

But technically they can manufacture passports in any colour! What colour would you choose?

Singapore Changi Airport - an airport where locals actually go to hang out for the day - no for real!!

This airport comes in at #2 but it sounds like a dream, which is a really weird thing to say about an airport but here we are!

Singapore Changi Airport offers an amazing shopping mall called The Jewel, boasts the worlds tallest indoor waterfall, grocery shopping, an air-conditioned rain forest, a hedge maze and a 12m high slide just to name a few of its features.

Who else wants to go with us for at least a 24 hour stopover in Singapore!?
