The case against Opioid profiteer Purdue Pharma/Sackler family, has been settled today. The Sackler family will pay $6 billion for their role in intentionally creating the opioid crisis and furthering it for their greed filled agenda. Billions of dollars will begin to flow into addiction treatment programs nationwide. AG Karl A. Racine’s office has nearly secured $80 million from opioid profiteer’s to fund these programs. This addiction was started by pharma companies themselves when they knew drugs such as OxyContin are highly addictive and highly misused, yet still promoted it as a painkiller.

After a series of incidents diminishing the UK public’s faith in the Metropolitan Police, Dame Cressida Dick has stepped down after four years of service as Commissioner. Her replacement is expected to be chosen by Home Secretary Priti Patel, along with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, over the next several days.
Rocket Scientist Annie Easley was one of the only four African-American employees at NASA when she began her career doing computations for researchers. She was also one of the few people of colour to co-author numerous papers about nuclear engines in rockets.
Easley was a single mother and worked full time at NACA (later NASA).
While she began her career performing complex mathematical calculations, she kept up to date with technology and very quickly became skilled at computer programming, using languages like Formula Translating System.
Later in her career, she even took the role of EEO counsellor and helped others address discrimination in the workplace.
Madam C.J. Walker discovered the gap in the cosmetology industry and filled it 100 years ago. But till this day, we still see only a tiny section of the haircare industry dedicated to products for Black women and men. While Black people statistically spend more on hair products then their White counterparts, we still see a major part of the industry putting more money to market and create general products, failing to recognize the disparity.
This Black History Month, we will be highlighting Black Women from history throughout the month - who have been left out of History books. We would also like to take the time to talk about the fact that Black History Month isn’t the only time we should be highlighting hidden gems of history. In order to check ourselves, we will make it a point to continue this series throughout the year.

On this day in 1914, the Ford Motor Company announced the implementation of the 8-hour workday, or the 40-hour workweek, as well as a $5 per hour minimum wage.
At the time, this was revolutionary - the first major step towards regulation of worker’s hours in this arena.
Over a century later, our idea of what constitutes ‘reasonable working hours’ and a healthy work culture is shifting yet again.
With the advent of remote work and the reduction + consolidation of ‘normal working hours’, what’s next for the future of work?

The relationship between the EU and Belarus has been strained since before Alexander Lukashenko's "reelection". But tensions reached a boiling point in November 2021 as an increasing number of migrants began trying to cross into the EU, allegedly in a scheme by the Belarusian government to destabilize the EU. These migrants were met by brutal force and driven back, trapped between a rock and a hard place.

They would much rather build on creating a more sustainable Black Friday rather than celebrate impulse purchases under the guise of “saving”. They put their customers first and want them to be able to make educated purchase. This is an absolute brilliant step towards fighting the corporate capitalistic greed.

The bill discusses American infrastructure, including public transportation, roads, bridges, ports, railways, power grids, broadband internet, as well as water and sewage systems.
Yet it is not limited and also clarifies cryptocurrency for the U.S. Treasury to take over. The introdcution of what Cryptocurrency law could look like is too broad in defintion and vague in other areas. Since the provisions don't take place till 2024 - there is hope for ammendements. Major concerns, are the defintion of what a "broker" is. The inclusion of digital assests to U.S. tax code section 6050l - which some defined as unconstitutional. And the requirement to report 1099-Bs could lead to many overstated 1099-Bs.
