Rap Saunders is a long-standing and well respected member of the UK's House scene and a favourite of many of the worlds biggest DJ’s and Producers. Starting out playing soul & hip hop as a teen, Rap found his true love of House Music back in the 1980’s.
Rap worked at Zoom records in the Early to Mid 90’s - then later managed the buying of House for BlackMarket records, SoHo. It was here that he became the go-to person for underground vinyl grooves.
A key player in some of London’s most influential underground events and parties, Rap has had many residencies; the Azuli Records nights in London and Ibiza, the now legendary New Opera, later known as Clandestino and Alex Ruello’s Need2Soul - during which time he met @dmc2000 Dennis Christensen and SaintSebastian and in 2002,
became the 3rd member of Soulmates. A player in the house scene as it evolved from the early 80’s, with gigs which became trailblazers for the House music and clubs we see today, Ricky’s love of House is rooted in the earliest influences of disco and garage. Respected for his part in bringing the sound to the mainstream and in particular, the crossover from US House into the UK, his education within the scene came partly from playing alongside greats such as MAW, Frankie knuckles? Tony Humphries - as well as opening and running one of London’s leading record stores ‘Catch a Groove’ throughout the 90’s.
Expect a blend of early disco edits, 90’s bumpy, House classics and more, in a 2-hour set which promises to showcase the breadth of Ricky’s incredible and knowledgeable take on House. ❤️
