meteorologist Paul Douglas and the folks at WeatherNation. Meet your WeatherNation meteorologists:

Paul Douglas - Minnesota’s first Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with a meteorology degree from Penn State, Douglas has spent 33 years in broadcasting, radio, television, web production, print and reporting. Although Douglas grew up in Pennsylvania, he has spent nearly his entire career in the Twin Cities -- 11 years at KARE11 and another 11 years at WCCO-TV. In addition to 3 years at WBBM-TV in Chicago, Douglas has appeared on ABC Nightline and the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. A serial entrepreneur, Douglas started EarthWatch, the first company to bring 3-D weather graphics to broadcasters in 1991. In 1998 he started Digital Cyclone, the first company to have an application on a cell phone in 2001. Garmin purchased Digital Cyclone in 2007, allowing Douglas to focus his efforts on his next venture, WeatherNation. Kristin Clark - Clark is a graduate of Penn State with a bachelor of science degree. She was most recently an on-air meteorologist at KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs, Colo. Clark is serious about weather, one of the youngest meteorologists to ever apply for and receive the coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society, considerably more rigorous and difficult than the standard AMS Seal. Gretchen Mishek - Mishek was born and raised in St. Paul, announcing early in life that she intended to be a meteorologist. She graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., where she majored in meteorology and minored in mathematics and physics. She got her first taste of the television industry during a weather internship with KMSP-TV in Minneapolis. She went on to Weather Central, Inc., headquartered in Madison, Wis. where she trained television meteorologists and managed the implementation of weather graphics systems in 35 states from Maine to Hawaii as well as in Canada, Latin America and the UK. Susie Martin - Martin is a bilingual meteorologist, fluent in English and Spanish. She attended the University of Miami, where she majored in both meteorology and mathematics and minored in psychology. Her love for earth science drove her to choose the field of meteorology. After graduation, she landed her first job in the Quad Cities, Iowa. Independent News Network gave her the opportunity to work on national and a variety of local markets--Louisville, KY, Detroit, MI, Montgomery, AL, Atlanta, GA, Las Vegas, NV and many more. After 3 fulfilling years, she moved on to WeatherNation. In January 2010, the American Meteorological Society designated Susie as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Todd Nelson - Nelson earned his meteorology degree from St. Cloud State University and moved to Duluth to cover lake effect snow. Soon after, he became chief meteorologist at a start-up station in Duluth, KQDS Fox 21 News. Here he successfully created and launched the weather brand for the station that was Emmy nominated for best newscast in the Upper Midwest for 2007 and 2008. Nelson is very involved with the weather and also does part-time work as a weather observer at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Rob Koch - Planting wheat, baling hay, and having a father who was a college Chemistry Professsor for 30 years, were a major influence on Rob eventually choosing meteorology as a career. While he initially started off college at Bismarck State College with aspirations of becoming a stock broker, Rob revisited his interest in meteorology when he took an elective college course called, Meteorology and Astronomy. After receiving an Associate of Science degree at Bismarck State College, he moved on to the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Atmospheric Science. His first gig was at KDLT, NBC-TV in Sioux Falls, SD as the Chief Meteorologist. In 1995, KCRG-TV the ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids, IA called upon Rob for their weekend meteorologist. In 1998, BayNews 9, the 24 hour news/weather channel hired Rob as a weekend Meteorologist and technology reporter. In 2001 an opportunity to move back to the Midwest, closer to family and 4 seasons, Rob & his family packed up and joined the weather team at KSTV-TV, the ABC affiliate. In early 2009, local news budgets brought a change to the landscape. Rob left the local tv news scene and joined the new weather frontier here at WeatherNation. Bryan Karrick - Do you remember where you were during the Super Outbreak of Tornadoes on April 3-4, 1974? Bryan Karrick’s family sure does, as they had just welcomed a new baby boy into the world a day before one of our nation’s worst severe weather events. This may explain his fascination with weather! Bryan is excited to join the WeatherNation team after nearly 12 years at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. Working in one of the most weather-intensive markets in the world gave him a chance to use some the best weather technology in the business. He was also able to gain field experience on frequent storm chases, and helped cover hurricanes for KCCI’s sister stations in Orlando and New Orleans. His experience and education paid off, as he was a member of the first team of meteorologists to earn a CBM Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. He’s also involved with the National Weather Association and holds its prestigious Seal of Approval. Bryan is also the proud dad of a black lab named Chase. Chase is a well-known “celebrity” in central Iowa, where he was a part of KCCI’s Weather Lab Wednesday segments. His AKC name, The Captain's Kennels Stormy Sky Chaser, reflects Bryan’s love of the weather. You'll find the two of them walking local trails, taking in dog parks, or chilling under area shade trees.
