It’s so important to assess a situation whether you’re the one giving or receiving what could be considered toxic positivity.
Pessimistic vs. optimistic:
Saying i don’t like this, but I accept this. I think things can get better or change.
It’s looking at both sides before only aligning with one outcome.
Whitney’s tips:
1. Look at the situation & validate what’s going on.
2. Connect with someone about what you’re going through, find community or read about it.
3. Tell yourself: I validated this, now I can keep moving forward.
4. Ask yourself: What steps can I take? What do I have control over? Look at things objectively.
5. Give yourself compassion & permission. Try to take care of yourself.
@kylievonnahme said, “I think everyone wants to be heard, not dismissed.”
By showing yourself some compassion you are allowing yourself the opportunity to grow & move forward.
Permission is a reminder that it is OK to go back to what feels comfortable occasionally. In doing so, you’re able to assess the direction you’ve gone in, the present moment & how the past lead up to where & who you are now.
