Alive by Abbi Bodager

He calls me by my name. I didn’t know
His face at first. I assumed He was a
simple laborer, attempting to grow
hyssop and cumin from minuscule gray
seeds, in a place where, ironically, death
rules. But this is no gardener. This is
the One who I’ve devoted every breath
to follow, yet now He stands transformed. Alive.

And I, too, feel a living joy wash through
my veins. Although I cannot describe
the emotion, I know that something new
begins today. Ivory blooms glisten
in the fields. And at His command, I dance
over the hills, singing to all who will listen.

The Table is Set by Hannah Hunhoff is now live on ☀️

There is a prismatic city on a hill, adorned with lights for all to see and behold Thee. Each mosaic on the city’s church steeple tells the story of a God who defeated darkness and brought forth an everlasting light. Storms frill the city gates, but children dance, joining in with heaven’s melody. For it is written: He has overcome and so will we. It is by our words, our stories, our testimonies that we join Him in his last words: “It is finished.”

The window of a house is open, and a grand dining table is set with a purple mountain majesty table covering and china with golden magnolias. A bountiful meal bestowed with the finest bread and wine awaits. An invitation from this dining room enters the shadows by a mysterious grace.

Grace as intricate as snowflakes’ microscopic design.
Grace that has breathed wind in our rusty sailboats.
Grace that has carried us as intimately as a parent’s tender care.

Figures of the faceless, the famed, the forlorn, and the fortunate stand at the gate.

✨ Silence & Song by Abbi Bodager

A tangerine sunrise,
a bare closet,
before and after a storm,
seedlings tearing through soil,
steam from my coffee,
fingers folded in prayer.

A nightingale,
notes intermingled,
fire exploding from ashes,
conversations over tacos,
a newborn weeping,
the saints in worship.

The Voice of Jesus.

New Fiction Short ✨ The Progressives by Kevin Duffy

“Birth Mother.” That was the subject line on the email Sara opened on her phone three weeks ago. And now she sat, hands nervously spinning her paper coffee cup as she waited for the girl who wrote her that message, the girl she gave birth to nineteen years ago and held for just a few moments before the nurses took her away for adoption. And she thought: is that what I’ll be called, like when she introduces me to people? “This is Sara, my birth mother.”

New post! ✨ | Yielding by Abbi Bodager

Lord, help me yield.
Not to this spiraling
circus that boils my brain,
but to winter, summer, autumn,
spring, to holy pruning.

I surrender my ruptured
senses, my subtle addictions.
Teach me to love, to see -
to stroll with You in the cool
of the dawn.
