Our drive to exist can be found in our symbol - the parrot. Its ability to mimic and imitate words and sounds from its surroundings to the amusement and entertainment of onlookers is the very crux of Talku Talku. The parrot is quite an intelligent bird but even more fascinating is its ability to be attentive and aware of its environment and as a result, capture sounds, which it imitate, as well as rhythm, which it manifests in its movement to sounds.
Of course, the attentiveness of the parrot and its ability to imitate words and sounds means it is steadily repeating or reciting new or acquired words. In Nigeria, the parrot is used as a metaphor for a talkative and in full embrace of our symbol, we adopted the Nigerian Pidgin word for talkative: Talku Talku.
