The idea of opening an Austrian pub has been a running joke to us for a long time. We would wear lederhosen, we would serve sausages and sauerkraut, play some krautrock and german techno bangers and it would be a fun time.
It’s now time to bring our little joke to life. Starting on June 14th, for Wednesday nights only, we’ll be rolling out our interpretation of an Austrian gasthaus in Melbourne’s inner north.
There’ll be a familiarity to the menu, with recognisable classics like the gulasch, spätzle and strudel getting a little twist here and there. We’re even bringing back the stockbrot!
We promise not to f**k with the schnitzel though. Das ist nicht OK.
Whether you want to down a schnitzel and a Pilsner or Schwarzbier to yourself at the bar, or bring a group of mates to share a bottle of Grüner or Blaufrankisch and get a real look at the menu this will be your Gasthaus am Füße des Hügels (Inn at the Bottom of the Hill)
