Goliath may be tall and strong, but this hurricane is short and sweet! That sideways airtime on the wave turn was a stellar moment, and Twisted Cyclone was my favorite coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. It’s a punchy little ride and every element hits. My first visit to Kings Island started on a grey afternoon after torrential rain and a ferocious thunderstorm on my drive south from Cedar Point. This rain event turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the park largely cleared out and gave me the chance to get a lot of rides in with almost no lines.

I had visited this park way back in 1999, yet so many roller coaster superlatives have been added since then, it would almost be like a brand-new park for me. Started 2023 off with a grey day at SeaWorld San Antonio! The park was very quiet so I got plenty of rides in on everything! Texas Stingray is the star of the show, and a coaster not that many people talk about. I love the steep straight first drop before the GCI twistiness gets going. Also Tidal Surge, the S&S Screamin’ Swing was just bonkers fun! Fiesta Texas tomorrow……..

So 2022 was my best year ever as a coaster enthusiast. I went on my week long road trip and did several other day trips and racked up the following stats:

8 days
6 different parks
3 new to me parks
43 different roller coasters
28 new to me roller coasters
103 total roller coaster rides

Oh yeah, and I started a new podcast! I already have another trip planned for the first week in January, so cheers to 2023 being even better!

I became a roller coaster enthusiast in the late 90’s and early 2000’s during the boom time of the Coaster Wars. Then life got in the way and I got out of the hobby for a number of years. I started following the theme park industry again during the pandemic, and since then I have been hitting the road to experience as many elite parks and attractions as possible. I invite you to join me on this journey as I revive my roller coaster fandom.

This is a different kind of roller coaster podcast. It’s part trip report, part on-ride experience, part ride review, and all storytelling. Are you ready?
