We were able to speak with such an inspiration this evening. Propelled by his own grief, trauma and tragedy, Jason Clawson started an organization called “Giving Sunshine”.

He has been making, sending and delivering boxes of ‘sunshine’ to those experiencing grief and tragedy. Jason has perfectly curated the gift boxes to not only bring joy to the recipient but also include actionable items to help them work through their situation.

You can gift or receive free custom support boxes. He will eventually have loss specific boxes (cancer, death, miscarriage, etc).

This foundation is new and could use support to get off the ground. Check them out on IG or their website www.GivingSunshine.org

This cause is truly incredible and really touched our hearts. Sometimes it’s hard to be there for people going through a tough time, you don’t know what to say or do, you want to show them love and support but don’t know how.

He explains his story and describes many different ways to support someone through a crisis on the Scrub Caps and Sippy Cups Podcast which will air in a couple weeks.

We have a lot of parenting advice thrown at us, but too often, the advice is outdated.

Some parenting methods can actually be harmful to children and their development. It's not just that parents are doing things differently, it's that they're using outdated methods that don't take into account how children develop today as opposed to doing things the way maybe your parents did.

You need information specific to modern child development and parenting strategies based on current methods rather than tradition.

Tune into the Scrub Caps and Sippy Cups podcast and hear our Guest, Bonnie Lenz break it down for us!

Is mainstream parenting advice helping moms today?

There is a lot of pressure on parents to do things "the right way." But what if the right way isn't actually working? In this episode, we'll be discussing how mainstream parenting techniques aren't always practical and how alternative methods could be more beneficial for families.

Check out our story for a link to this week's episode!

Our guest this week is Bonnie Lenz. Bonnie is a survivor of child abuse and emotional abuse as an adult. She has three amazing children with her supportive husband Cory. Bonnie’s children are her best teachers and they have inspired a lot of her healing and passions.

After years of healing, and with loving support, Bonnie was able to set a freeing boundary in 2020, and shortly after that, she was inspired to create The Sunflower Parent Movement which launched on Mother’s Day of last year. She wanted to help those who are parenting break unhealthy cycles, raise awareness about evidence-based parenting, and advocate for abuse awareness and prevention.

She has come to believe that conscious, respectful, and positive parenting practices hold the key to ending generational cycles of trauma that contribute to abuse prevention.

Bonnie is a Registered Nurse and wanted to help others, but was being a people pleaser, blamed herself, and found that nursing took a big emotional burden on her. She turned gears and started a nonprofit in the hopes of helping others through counseling, coaching, and various resources.

10/01/2022

We've all heard the advice to "do what works for you." But how do we know if that's actually true? 🤔

In this episode, Bonnie Lenz will be talking about breaking cycles of bad parenting. She'll discuss how mainstream parenting techniques aren't always practical and can even be harmful. And she'll offer some real-world solutions that are easy to implement in your own life.

Tune into episode #56 where Bonnie will address these issues, share her own experiences as a parent and help us all break cycles of bad parenting. Listen to her advice and a great discussion with Ellen, Laci, and Crystal. We hope to leave you with new ideas on what it means to be an effective parent today!

You're not sure where to start or how to rebuild yourself. Sometimes it takes an earth shattering moment to hit the reset button.

In this podcast episode, Jessie talks about her experience with hitting rock bottom and how she was able to recover from an eating disorder, a car accident, and find wellness again. She introduces us to her new book, The Art of Doing Nothing, and how the Tao Te Ching, an ancient Chinese philosophy became her inspiration.

After listening to this podcast episode we hope you'll feel inspired to take your next challenge head-on, even if you aren't sure what that looks like for you right now. It's okay if things don't go as planned because there isn't one path toward success - try something new! And remember that mistakes are part of the journey towards healing and growth - embrace them!

Do you ever feel like you need a break from the constant go, go, go?

We know we do. And what's better than taking a break to do nothing?

It sounds counterproductive, but when was the last time you just sat around and let your mind wander? Probably not recently, if at all. We're so busy nowadays that taking a moment for ourselves is a rarity.

But it's so important.

So on this episode, we are joined by Jessie Kanzer to discuss her new book, The Art of Doing Nothing, what that actually entails, how her book parallels the “ Great Resignation”, the pandemic and share some mindset tips to combat overwhelm.

You are going to end this episode with a new mindset and the inspiration to get you out of that rut you’re in!
