I have read a couple essays already, and I like; it's the least bs per column inch that I have found so far, better than Chris Hedges.

Umair's been one of the world's top 50 thinkers, has published several books through Harvard Business Press, been one of Harvard Business Review online's top authors for many years, helped run gigantic corporations, reluctantly been an evil hedge fund guy and a banker, loves disco, and is an award-winning, globally recognized expert in economics, innovation, leadership, and transformation.

He says "I don’t like writing system-level criticisms now. I barely do it. It’s a thankless task, and a fool’s errand. Nobody wants to know about how bad the future’s going to be. Everybody wants to know how bad the future’s going to be. People beg me for optimism, and I look at them, wondering, do you think I’m being critical because I think this all we’re capable of?"

[btw, that's 20% increase over pre-ind average, and, over land that increase could easily be double the average. I also wonder if they have taken into account that the oceans, 70% of earth surface, are not able to absorb as much heat.]

“”The crop is sensitive to weather conditions,” Bob Leiby, an agronomist with the Pennsylvania Co-Operative Potato Growers, explained. He estimated that in the 1980s, there were 35 nights per year that were too hot for the potato crops. Now, it’s closer to 50 nights per year.”

Potatoes need cool nights to grow, and in Pennsylvania, those nights are becoming few and far between.

hello again, I wanted to recheck the prognosis by Lars on diesel in 2027. His blog at https://skogslars.blogg.se/ is full of links and credible sources, sprinkled with lots of christian apocolytic forebodings. Even though he calls out the 'wild evangelical prophets', his levelheadedness is now in question, imo.

It is almost not possible to really believe that global oil exports are declining exponentially right now (i.e. at an accelerated rate of decline, which means that the decline goes faster and faster with time), as I have shown in this book (because almost no one talks about it, we do not want it to be true). This means that the collapse of civilization will also be exponential, going faster and faster. It means that it is exponential right now. Who can really fathom this fact?
