Autour des Jeux Olympiques de 1900 : Sport et Idéal
Before it was a museum, the Musée d'Orsay was a train station, first built to accommodate the 50 million visitors coming for the 1900 World Fair and the associated Olympic Games. This was the very first time the Olympics came to Paris.
With the return of the Olympics to Paris, the Orsay Museum has set up a special exhibit about how the Olympics changed people's relationship to sports and to their physical bodies. The exhibit opened in July 13th. I'll show you around the exhibit, so you don't have to brave those Olympic crowds!

I'm proud to say that our mini-summer season finale guest will be Internationally bestselling author of historical fiction Christine Wells! She'll be talking about her newest novel, "The Paris Gown," scheduled for lrelease on August 20th, and now is your chance to ask her anything! What would you like to know?
Here's a little more about "The Paris Gown:"
Paris, 1956
Three friends—Claire, Gina, and Margot—who parted as very young women with their whole lives ahead of them, reunite in Paris years later, determined to start life anew.
Parisian Claire has been working hard to become a Michelin-starred chef one day, but ever since the heady time she spent in the company of socialites Gina and Margot, her dream has been to own a Dior gown.
Meanwhile Gina, a cool American blue blood, lands on Claire’s doorstep nursing a broken heart and a broken engagement after her father lost all of the family money in a risky business venture. A journalist aspiring to be a novelist, Gina has returned to Paris in the hopes of pursuing her dream.
At Dior for a fitting, who should assist them but Margot, the friend they thought had gone back to Australia to be married. But Margot is living in Paris and working at Dior under an assumed name, and clearly, she is not happy to have been found.
Is their close friendship at an end? Or will the wonder and delight of the Dior gown bring these young women back together?

✨✨✨ASK PAIGE McCLANAHAN! ✨✨✨

Proud to announce that American journalist and author of “The New Tourist: Waking Up to the Power and Perils of Travel,” Paige McClanahan will be featured on an upcoming episode of Storytime in Paris. Now is your chance to ask her anything!
Paige is a regular contributor to The New York Times, and has reported publications like The Guardian, the BBC, and The Washington Post, on topics like multilateral trade negotiations, humanitarian crises, economic development, and the tourism industry. She has been recognized by The Society of American Travel Writers and the North American Travel Journalists Association for her travel journalism.
“The New Tourist” will change the way you think about travel. Here’s a little more about it:
“Through deep and perceptive dispatches from tourist spots around the globe—from Hawaii to Saudi Arabia, Amsterdam to Angkor Wat—The New Tourist lifts the veil on an industry that accounts for one in ten jobs worldwide and generates nearly ten percent of global GDP. How did a once-niche activity become the world’s most important means of contact across cultures? When does tourism destroy the soul of a city, and when does it offer a place a new lease on life? Is “last chance tourism” prompting a powerful change in perspective, or driving places we love further into the ground?
Filled with revelations about an industry that shapes how we view the world, The New Tourist spotlights painful truths but also delivers a message of hope: that the right kind of tourism—and the right kind of tourist—can be a powerful force for good.”

So, what would you like to know?

✨✨✨ASK REBECCA RAISIN! ✨✨✨

I’m very excited to announce that bestselling author Rebecca Raisin will be featured on an upcoming episode of the Storytime in Paris podcast! She’ll be calling in all the way from Perth, Australia to chat about her fabulous summer romance, “A Love Letter to Paris” and this is your chance to ask her anything!
Here’s a little more about “A Love Letter to Paris:”
“The pretty little streets of Montmartre are abuzz with a rumour. Apparently a mystery matchmaker, known only as ‘Paris Cupid’, has somehow helped the city’s most famous bachelor find love.
But old-fashioned romantic Lilou is staying very quiet. She’d just wanted to set up her best friend, and to get on with her life selling whimsical old love letters, in Paris’s famous St. Ouen market.
She hadn’t imagined her little Paris Cupid project could ever have attracted so many people looking for true, heartfelt romance. Though the truth is that Lilou adores helping people find the right person. Even if her own love life is nothing short of disastrous.
But then a message arrives. And it’s just for her. Someone is in love with her. Someone who knows her secret. But they’re keeping their own identity secret too… Could it be from cheerful, talkative, flame-haired Felix? Or quiet, beautifully handsome Benoit? Or even Pascale – who drives Lilou mad every day?
After so long of helping others find their soulmate, is it time for Lilou to find love of her own in Paris herself?”
So, what would you like to know?

✨✨✨ASK KIMBERLY BELLE! ✨✨✨

I’m thrilled to announce a brand new summer season of Storytime in Paris! One of the brilliant authors joining me is USA Today and internationally bestselling author Kimberly Belle, discussing her newest thriller “The Paris Widow!”
Now is your chance to ask her anything!
Kimberly’s books have sold over one million copies sold worldwide. She is a Goodreads Choice Awards semifinalist for Best Mystery & Thriller for “The Marriage Lie,” and co-authored #1 Audible Original, “Young Rich Widows.”
Kimberly’s novels have been optioned for film and television and selected by LibraryReads and Amazon & Apple Books Editors as Best Books of the Month, and the International Thriller Writers as nominee for best book of the year.
Here’s a little more about “The Paris Widow:”
When Stella met Adam, she thought she had finally found a nice, normal guy—a welcome change from her previous boyfriend and her precarious jetsetter lifestyle with him. But her secure world comes crashing down when Adam goes missing after an explosion in the city square. Unable to reach him, she panics.
.
As the French police investigate, it’s revealed that Adam was on their radar as a dealer of rare and stolen antiquities with a long roster of criminal clients. Reeling from this news, Stella is determined not to leave Paris until she has the full story. Was Adam a random victim or the target of the explosion? And why is someone following her through the streets of Paris?
.
An irresistible, fast-paced read set in some of Europe’s most inviting locales, The Paris Widow explores how sinister secrets of the past stay with us—no matter how far we travel.
So, what would you like to know??
