8 Minutes for our future

Welcome to the new series of 8MFOF: Polite Banter. Through this series, we look forward to discuss ongoing topics, and give OUR opinion on them. The speakers will obviously be Thira Kothari and Davina Agarwal. We hope you enjoy. We’ve already introduced ourselves when we had just started, so down below is our views on working with each other.

“I think working with Thira, in very simple words, has been fun and easy going. We were friends before we started working on this podcast, and yes, more often than not people say that working with your friends is not the best idea, and for good reason. However, I feel that both of us work very similarly, and our ideas go together very well most times, which is so amazing. Believe it or not, our meetings are ALWAYS us just talking and catching up; but just by simply talking is how we brainstorm. I think at this point its very clear, that I absolutely love working with her and couldn’t imagine having a better co-host”.

“Working with Davina has always been an absolute pleasure. Our late night calls where we not only come up with great ideas but also discuss other ‘school matters’. More than a co host, she is an amiable yet industrious partner who makes podcasting so much more fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better companion and an innovative co host!”

I have my hands dipped in almost everything I see- I dance, participate in theatre, play the drums and am a very active sportsperson. But I'm particularly interested in changing myself to suit the need of the hour, which is the environmental catastrophe. I minimise electricity usage, buy secondhand, travel only if necessary, I've stopped fast fashion, compost at the least. I go for litter picking around the city and at school for fun, and am trying to go zero waste within the next year. I also like spreading awareness about the issue and so I have spoken on various platforms like the India luxury symposium 2019, at different schools, at festivals, etc. But my aim in life, in the end, is to leave a negative ecological footprint on the planet.

I am one who loves talking to people, having conversations. I can not live without the sun, blue skies, and stars. (also books and cats). I have been seriously writing poetry for a year or so now but enjoy literature, science, and math equally. My belief is that climate change is the most important problem we're facing at the moment, and I think the only way to get anywhere with it is to make contributions at a personal level. I try to actively participate in the discussions and initiatives that our school has been taking to reduce our plastic consumption, implement waste segregation, and in changing other harmful practices.

Aditya Dogra is an avid technology supporter who likes to spend his free time writing programs and solving sums and never misses an opportunity to participate in a healthy argument with his peers on just about anything under the sun.

From dance, music and drama to academics, there is nothing Rhea Saxena is not amazing at. She is super bubbly and extremely enthusiastic about all the work that she does. Having given a Ted Talk, she’s also proved that she is an eloquent speaker and we’re so excited to have her.

A literal bundle of joy, Thira Kothari is the most cheerful and considerate person you will meet. She feels strongly about climate change and believes that the smallest steps can bring about the biggest changes in the world. Being a tennis player, she understands the concept of hard work and consistency; and she is probably one of the most clever people you will cross paths with.

Joining the school in middle of the 9th grade, Davina still managed to cope up with all her studies and social life. She is a perfect balance of a meticulous worker and an amiable companion. She is an asset to this podcast and it would be impossible to express the niche of this podcast without her creativity.
