MISSION AND AGENDA (PART 1)

I humbly submit myself as a candidate for the post of VICE-Chancellor, University of Calabar, Calabar. My mission is to reposition our university to achieve the of its founding fathers and become functional academic institution with an inclusive, innovative and supportive learning environment that offers requisite educational experiences for learners to achieve scalable excellence in their academic and professional pursuits. Our goal is to become a major player in the 21st century dynamic global arena as an institution producing international, self-directed, ethical and collaborative problem solvers. I aspire to this position in order to enable me provide in the next five years a stewardship that will lead to sustainable revitalization of our university system for efficiency premised on standards,rule of law, due diligence and discipline. The ongoing tensions in our land today make a demand on us not only to refocus our purpose and approaches to education but also to strive to build a better society. We must strive to ensure that the education we offer serve to better equip our future generations via a system-wide reforms that foster new learning goals which emphasize skills, competencies, creativity, knowledge and technology while adapting curricula offerings to promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creative problem-solving as well as multiculturalism, global awareness, character and citizenship development.
