“Alice laughed. 'There's no use trying,' she said. 'One can't believe
impossible things.' I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. There goes the shawl again!”
― Lewis Carroll

My work explores the intersection between our realities and fantasies. The surreal, the impossibly possible. Like Carroll’s Red Queen, I like to let my imagination run wild as much as I can and ask, what if the laws of reality didn’t apply here? What if instead of water surrounding me when I jumped into a pool, it was a field of daisies? How would that contrast with a field of thorny roses? While world building,
all ideas have value. I often find that when I go back to an old notebook and find a scribbled idea or sketch that at the time didn’t spark much more for me, I am now ready to tease out that thread. Ready to weave that tale....read more on .a.carter_art as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

✨“We who carry the name of concubine - history will call us wives.”✨
Although this final line from Frank Herberts “Dune” is steeped in patriarchy, when I first read it I was deeply moved. For me this quote speaks of the ability of the daring to shape their own reality and the ways in which context changes our interpretation. In my work I use color, shape and light to alter the viewers perception as well as their emotional state. In interacting with my work the viewer exists in a place where they question their initial read on an image or shape, allowing them to explore what other ways they might approach it....read more on .shon as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

The forms of animals, plants and the mysterious passage of time are at play within the spirit of my work. I use nature, music and intuition to form motifs. Vibrant color palettes featuring cool pastels and complimentary hues are signature to my visual field, using gradients and negative space to show depth and gem-like quality. Standing on the edge of surreal and serene is a special kind of freedom, I never plan on stepping back......read more on as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

"There is no such thing as a mistake, only new creations" - Julie Hill, mother

Growing up my family was constantly struggling with money. Though this quote was inspired by the fact that my parents could not afford endless amounts of printer paper to be discarded due to creative 'mess ups', this is the foundation to how I create art today and how I am able to fully trust my flow. Even when I get upset, feel as though I ruined a piece of art by adding a certain color or brush stroke, this quote pushes me to keep going and see through the creative process fully. All of the paintings that I feel like I "messed up on" turn into my absolute favorite pieces upon completion.....read more on as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

Samantha Wildflowa's ( ) Ideas To Work By 💡
1. Trust your Intuition. If you feel called to use a certain color, brush stroke or
additive: Do it! And don't think twice! You will be amazed when you are finished how many new techniques you discovered through experimental creation.

2. Push yourself outside of every creative box. If you feel nervous to try something new, maybe this is a style or new medium, it means you are on the right track. When you feel uncomfortable/ scared that you may mess up, that is Spirit giving you the green light. You will be amazed by how easily you were able to integrate the new skill and you may surprise yourself with how good you actually are at the new skill. The hardest part is always pushing yourself outside of the creative box.

3. Get outside! As contemporary artists, many of us seek creative inspiration online via social medias or creative sites like Pinterest and Tumblr. I have personally found that exercise outside, not in a gym, gives me the most creative ideas. A walk around your neighborhood will not only ground you back into your body, it allows your mind time to wander while your body is engaged in activity. This is one of the biggest sweet spots.

As in my paintings so in my life I try to maintain movement. Movement of shapes, strokes and the body of the girls I paint. The movement in life is sometimes fighting yourself and your life views to constantly get out of your comfort zone for small tiny changes to occur. The changes should not necessarily occur for the sake of change but as a goal to come closer to your true self. As well as art should be about truth not just beauty.........read more on .art as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

Aziza Saliev's ( .art ) Ideas To Work By 💡
1. Stay true to yourself. This will help to come to your own style and voice. It
will also help to ignore the pressure of the surrounding and all left will be you and your art. Truth in art is always beautiful and catches the eye of the ones who understand.
2. Keep moving. It’s hard as an artist to get attention of the audience and to get through the spaces to show your art and sell. So despite of all rejection and discouragement remember to keep moving, and only this will bring you to the success.
3. Remember to celebrate all small wins. As humans we tend to concentrate on negatives so remember to acknowledge each small
achievement and this will bring you to the greater accomplishments.

"Through my work I try to represent a variety of narratives - there's hidden beauty within each one of us, what you see on the outside is
just a coat of what we show to the world, we all have imperfections that we should embrace and we are way stronger than we think we
are! You Be You!

My creative process begins with days of brainstorming before I actually get to the canvas. The brainstorming involves finding inspiration, drafting high level visual elements and the message I want to convey from my work. Then I start to sketch on canvas. Once I have the drawing ready, that's when I move to thinking about a vibrant color theme for the portrait. My process involves continuous improvisation as I paint. Finally I finish my artwork with a backdrop complementing the portrait. Using acrylics on stretched canvas, my compositions slowly come to life and in the end, a new creation establishes itself with its own story to tell.........read more on as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

Drawing from history, pop culture, and personal memories, Grace Pastore of Figment Print Shop creates relief prints that aim to be a feast for the eyes—landscapes of information and nostalgia. Each design is illustrated, carved, and printed in her tiny Fremont apartment. After transferring original illustrations to linoleum and other block materials, she spends weeks carving with micro palm tools to achieve highly detailed designs. Most of all, Grace loves building tiny worlds for people to explore, unearthing stories rich with humor and irony as she carves. She hopes anyone who glances or lingers delights in the little discoveries....read more on as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

Grace Pastore's ( ) Ideas To Work By 💡
💥 1. Embrace f**k ups—I'm still working on this one, especially right after a tool slips and something feels ruined. But mistakes have often been my quickest path to falling in love with a detail. There's the me that can be mad about it, and the me that says "ok, what story now"—that second me is always more fun.
⏳ 2. Rediscover leisure. Our culture values productivity above all else and honestly, it sucks. Our passions don't have to be our full-time jobs. If you're feeling pressured to hustle, make something and don't post it. Write a weird poem and burn it. Make a badass birthday card for a person you love. Watch TV all weekend. Have fun.
😍 3. Feel jealousy and don't shame yourself for it. I think we tip-toe around this as creatives. When I see mind-blowing work from a fellow creative, I think it's normal to hate them a little? If jealousy makes me want to quit, I know I’m not creating art to make myself happy anymore. Somehow this became another piece of advice about leisure and I’m ok with that.

I create neon art to connect to others - especially now, I long for connection. I find that connection is largely about how we make one another feel so I want my work to make someone feel something, anything. That’s a tall order for a neon sign, but I see neon as more than signage: The light has a way of warming us; drawing us in. I intentionally transform the traditional sign medium into an artistic experience.….read more on as part of our Closing Summer Mini-Series: CREATEUR's Unpublished at createurzine.com

🖤 1. Don't ever hold back what you want to do. If it feels right in your heart, then it
probably is.
🎥 2. Record everything. We live in a world dominated by social media. So no matter what you're doing when it comes to your art, record it.
⏳ 3. Don't increase your prices too quickly. I see a lot of artist starting out higher than they should. You want your work to sell in the beginning and get it in as many homes as possible. Starting low helps to build "hype." People want what they can't have.

Kurt draws inspiration from creatives who embrace their unique visions. He admires Weird Al Yankovic's ability to satirize and parody the world around him, reflecting Kurt's own ability to challenge conventions and find beauty in the unexpected. Kurt also finds inspiration in the works of Vincent Van Gogh and Kurt Cobain, both renowned for their bold and beautiful creations.

Inspired by early American illustrators like Norman Rockwell, Mead Schaeffer, and Frank Frazetta, German skillfully combines bold colors with greys, creating dramatic compositions that demand attention.
