First of all I want to wish a Happy New Years to anyone who actually reads this page. Hope all is well with everyone in there lives. And hopefully this year will start out positive as well as enriching for everyone. Having said that, here's some thoughts on some music: This post is for the review of two singles.
Before I do any of that I'd like to add in this tiny edit, that I just read in a post that FaithHead guitarist Donny Raines had back surgery a few days ago. Sending prayers and positive vibes your way Sir!
FaithHead are an Alternative/ Hard Rock/ Christian- Metal band from Chattanooga, TN. They formed in 2016.
I had some familiarity with this band on social media. I've seen them post some things from time to time. A sound bite here and there, all of which has been enjoyable. So a while back they put out a single called Old Sin New Skin. At first glance one might think they are just some noisy up and coming band but they are more than that.
I sense a burning passion that strives to create something unique and original. Within the vocals, there is an intensity which flows through the track with ease. Taking command but at the same time not killing the tune. Some singers overdo it, but this guy hit's everything just right. I love how his voice echo's through the track.
Crisp percussion and well saturated bass lines that tingle through my ears. The guitar riffs slither and chop with precision. After listening to them for a while the music takes on a vibe as if they're truly up to no good. There's a bit of an, ''oh s**t feeling in the air''. All in the lyrics are exceptional and intelligent. It took me a few times listening to this track to understand the meaning of it all.
I'll just say that it's very well said and meaningful. They have some tasty guitar solo's which smack you in the face. Loved the bit on the drums right after the solo. Tight and impressive with the percussion all around. I've listened to some other tracks of this band. What I will say about their music is it's both diverse yet distinct. A fun yet serious vibe here at times. Overall I have enjoyed the single, it's a smidge repetitive in places but with good stuff.
If you have not given their music a listen I highly recommend them. Also I'd like to add that the recording quality seems to be quite exceptional. For the single I'd have to give them a 10/10. Good enough to make you throw the horns up!
--------------------------------------------------------------
This Single is off of their Album which was released earlier in April of 2019. The title of the song is Genesys.
As for their album that came out in April 2019. Let me just say... there's a ton of Truth spoken within this music. It's a combination of tasty melodies. Thick and fuzzy distortion reigns off and on, but they don't over do it.
It feel's almost like your listening to a countdown to something really bad that's about to happen. (I mean this in the best of compliments). The vocals seem to alternate at perfect moments within the music, between a relaxed smooth style and something which seems powerful and precise. All the while the vocals are winding perfectly throughout the track; creating this soothing lullaby of destruction. Eventually it culminates into a chaotic yet hypnotic thunder of heavy music.
So to reiterate it dances between my ears with this a melody that can put you in a trance. If you find yourself under the spell of their music, it is only then that you can't help but to brace yourself when the you know what, hit's the fan. Once you reach the heaviest point it makes you think that this whole thing feel's like a journey.
As far as what the music says? Lyrics, vocals, melodies and all? Perhaps it's saying that the listener is asleep at the wheel all while the world around them is going to hell in a hand basket. With the unique lyrics, production value, as well as the mesmerizing mixture of drums, vocals, bass, and guitar licks. I've got to rate this song as a 10/10 as well. Good enough to make you throw the horns up!
