Quezon City Hall employees will receive a ₱10,000 bonus as an appreciation for their contributions to the local government’s “sound financial management,” Mayor Joy Belmonte announced Saturday.
Belmonte approved Ordinance No. SP-3138, S-2022 on Sept. 9. It grants the incentive to city hall employees, including those holding contracts of service, job orders, and consultancy contracts.
The ordinance was approved by the Quezon City Council after the city government earned the “unqualified opinion,” the highest audit opinion, from the Commission on Audit for the years 2020 and 2021.
“Ang bonus na ito ay pagkilala ng ating pamahalaang lungsod at ng ating Quezon City Council, sa pamumuno ni presiding officer at Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, sa sipag ng ating mga tauhan na nakatulong para makuha natin ang mga karangalan mula sa Commission on Audit,” said Belmonte, adding that the bonus would help employees amid the high prices of basic goods.
[Translation: Giving this bonus is the way of the city government and the Quezon City Council, led by presiding officer and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, to acknowledge the diligence of our workers who helped us to earn the recognition from the Commission on Audit.]
Department heads have been ordered to submit the names of the employees entitled to receive the bonus.

JUST IN: The Health department reports 14,333 new COVID-19 cases from Oct. 3 to 9, down by 10% from the previous week.
The daily average was at 2,048 new infections. A total of 256 deaths were also verified, 29 of which occurred from Sept. 26 to Oct. 9.
Five new critical cases were recorded, while 669 critical patients are in hospitals.

The Office of the President (OP) has extended the term of all its coterminous employees and officials until yearend to prevent disruption in the delivery of government services.
This was provided under Memorandum Order No. 7, which was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Sept. 27 and announced during a Malacañang flag-raising ceremony on Monday.
“All employees and officials in the Office of the President Proper, whose issued appointments were coterminous with the previous appointing authority, shall remain in service and continue to perform their duties and functions until 31 December 2022,” the order read.
This is unless the appointments are sooner revoked, or there are resignations, replacements, or reappointments, Bersamin said.
Meanwhile, in his speech during the ceremony, the recently appointed executive secretary reminded his fellow government officials to always uphold the rule of law in carrying out their duties.
“Always bear in mind that we are undeserving of our positions if we cease to be just and lawful,” said Bersamin, who previously served as Supreme Court chief justice.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office (MDRRMO) said 88 victims are Grades 4-6 students, while the rest are teachers of San Francisco Elementary School in Sablayan.
Mark Jayson Tarinay, incident commander of the Sablayan MDRRMO, said the victims ate spring rolls bought outside of the school at around 9:30 a.m. They then had symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and vomiting.
Tarinay said officials coordinated with other local agencies to bring the students and teachers to health facilities.
He said 22 are still confined, while the others have been sent home.

Tiniyak ngayon ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) na magde-deploy sila ng tatlong food trucks sa ilang paaralan sa buong bansa para matugunan ang problema ng malnutrition at kagutuman ng mga estudyante sa bansa.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ni OVP Local Affairs and Special Programs Division chief Norman Baloro na sa pamamagitan ng “Kalusugan Food Trucks” ay susundin nila ang 120-day feeding program menu.
Pupuwesto ang mga ito sa mga paaralan at institutions para maresolba ang nutritional challenges ng mga bata sa komunidad.
Ipatutupad ang programa sa pakikipagtulungan sa Department of Education (DepEd) at Department of Health sa pamamagitan ng National Nutrition Council.
Sinabi ni Baloro na ang tatlong truck ay ipinahiram sa OVP sa ilalim ng usufruct agreement hanggang 2028.
Ang isang truck ay para sa Luzon, isa para sa Visayas at isa naman para sa Mindanao.
Susundin daw nila ang 120 days na prescribed ng National Nutrition Council.
Gagamitin din ang naturang mga food trucks bilang mobile kitchens kapag mayroong kalamidad bilang bahagi ng disaster operations ng pamahalaan
