By Paris Obdan I like Oslo. Not because it’s pretty and clean, not because of things simply “work” and the living is easy, and not because of the anatomically correct women walking around. I like it because it’s f*cking WEIRD! And here is why: The first term you need to familiarize yourself with, as a student in a large metropolitan university in Europe, is… [ 789 more words ]

November 26 is a significant day for The Moose. On November 26, 2012, our last imprint saw the light of the day. And on November 26, 2015, the last article was published on our former website, which is missed so much.
Although we have lost the domain and some of our great content (but not everything), we have created a mock website that once we get our domain back will be moved there. And to commemorate November 26, yesterday on November 26, 2019, we uploaded 12 articles written by former international students, ELGers, and their friends.
So today you can read them and see for yourselves that sometimes it is possible to pick up exactly where you left 4 years ago.
Are you about to take your Norwegian exam or you just want to refresh your Norwegian? - Check home-related vocabulary and learn a new idiom.
Are you planning to arrive in Norway for the next semester? - See how your first day here might look like.
Want to go skiing this winter season but you've never done it before? - Get tips from someone who's been here in your shoes.
Or maybe you just want to try a new easy and delicious recipe? Or take a boat trip to fjords? Or relax by reading a short story?
There is that and so much more. We do hope there is something interesting for everyone.

NEW ARTICLE! "Norwegian Experiences: The Boat Trip Around The Fjords"

It is these cloudy and extremely short days that remind of the time when the sun was shining up high in Oslo. Prior to my arrival in Norway, I signed up for this so-called ‘Boat Trip’. To be honest, I had no idea what it would involve, how many people would be there, if it is a tour of the islands o…

NEW ARTICLE! "Making Paper Writing Suck Less"

It is a fact of student life that writing papers sucks. This awfulness can be even worse when you are writing in a language which isn’t your native tongue. But it doesn’t have to suck. NEW ARTICLE! "Learning the Ways of the Utepils" Have you had your first utepils of the summer? :D

As the Norwegian summer approaches more people are heading outside to enjoy the nice weather. NEW ARTICLE! "6 Things You'll See in Oslo in May" What have you seen this month? :D

May is a strange and busy month for Norwegians. Not only does the month contain Norway’s national holiday of Syttende Mai (Seventeenth of May or Constitution Day) but also is the month when High Schoolers go on a month long party BEFORE they are set to graduate in June. So, with these facts in mind,…

NEW ARTICLE! "My Big Greek Presentation" Giving presentations about your home country can be difficult. Share your experiences!

Let me start by saying that I, as a person, like to talk a lot. Too much some might say. They speak the truth of course, but sometimes it’s a good thing because when I speak fast I don’t have time to process everything so I speak more honestly. I am saying this because last week I had to give a pres…
