A eam of researchers at the Faculty Engineering, Kebbi State University of Science and echnology, Aliero (KSUSTA) has successfully fabricated a medical ventilator, yet to undergo a post clinical test. The rechargeable solar powered ventilator can work with or without AC power source (dual: AC and DC).
The ventilator can be equally charged with
1. Car chargers
2. Solar
3. Domestic phone charger
4.12v battery
5. Power bank
It is self-sterilizing after usage which can sanitizes the ventilator from pathogens using Ultra-violet rays five minutes after usage .
The ventilator can work for at least two hours when fully charged.
It was also designed with regulator that can regulate the air volume to function in a dual mode for both adults and children.
It was presented before the University Management at the Vice Chancellor's office on the 6th of May, 2020.
The invention was in response to the Vice-Chancellor’s challenge to various experts in the University to continue to strive towards making relevant contributions, so as to place the institution among the best in the country.
The researchers considered the peculiar circumstances of the country, more especially with the present COVID 19 pandemic out break and the epileptic power supply.
The ventilator was produced to work without electricity for at least two hours so also, designed with regulator that can easily be regulated to function in a dual mode for both children and adults.
An elated Vice-Chancellor hailed the team for the feat, particularly for looking inward, in efforts to seek solutions to the Coronavirus Disease.
