Crime rates are often a reflection of the effectiveness of a government's policies and programs. Unfortunately, under the current government, crime has been increasing in a politically motivated manner. Rather than implementing evidence-based strategies to address the root causes of crime, the government has instead focused on using crime as a political tool to further their own agenda.
One example of this is the government's approach to poverty. Instead of investing in programs to support low income house hold and address the challenges they face in integrating into society from a disadvantage of lack, the government has instead demonized low income houses and used them as scapegoats for increases in crime. This type of political rhetoric can lead to increased fear and mistrust, which can in turn lead to increased crime. Additionally, the government has cut or reduced funding to community programs that have been shown to be effective in reducing crime, such as after-school programs and mental health services and the Poverty Alleviation Program. By neglecting these programs and prioritizing their political interests, the government has contributed to the rising crime rates in the country.
