Who's Hussein Abdellbagi Akol?

Hussein Abdellbagi is the militia commander who invaded the Abyei area in 2008 and 2011 and SAF troops.

In 2008 Abdellbagi was a militia commander serving under the Sudan government whose troops and SAF joined hands together and invaded Abyei in which more than 60,000 people fled during and after fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) in Abyei in May 2008, in which SAF and SAF-supported militia (Hussein Abdellabagi Akol) also deliberately killed civilians and carried out massive looting and destruction of the town. More than half the homes in Abyei were burned to ground and the market was destroyed.

In May 2011, Sudan-backed militia (Hussein Abdellbagi Akol) and SAF troops invaded the Abyei area. Northern forces swept through Abyei, destroying civilian property and displacing over 110,000 Ngok Dinka from their traditional homeland.

In 2018 the transition government of national unity was formed after the Khartoum agreement. That agreement gave the Juba government five Vices President. After SSOA failed to decide to nominate a vice president, they authorized President Salva Kiir to pick from a list of six leaders so the President of South Sudan HE Salva Kiir Mayardit on Feb. 23, 2020 picked Hussein Abdellbagai Akol as the fifth vice President for the sake of peace in South Sudan.

In 2022 after the Twic armed youth attacked civilians in Aneet town (Market) Abyei Special Administrative Area on 10, Feb.2022 HE President Salva Kiir Mayardit formed an investigation committee headed by the former Sudanese Militia who invaded Abyei Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, his work was to investigate and give a report back to President but he ended by dent down the report of Abyei into two pieces. Which means he fails to give accurate reports to the President.

Abdellbagi didn't stop there after failing but he kept lying to two communities in particular and Warrap communities in general.

On Tuesday 12, 2023 in Juba, the new governor Gen. Kuol Muor Muor of Warrap state called upon the Twic and Warrap community leaders for a peace consultative meeting in Warrap, Twic, and Ngok peace.

At that meeting, Vice President Hussein Abdellbagi was given a chance to speak about the peace within Warrap, Twic, and Abyei as Vice President In his speech

1- He said and declared that he was almost killed in Abyei Mijak-kol during his visit to Abyei which was a white lie from him.

2- He told twic that Athony and Aneet are Twic lands which is a white lie.

3- In his report, he said I told President Kiir that those who began the fight were ngok which is a lie and fueling the conflicts between the two communities.

4- To declare his position he said the problem of Ngok and Twic will be like that of Israeli and Palestine.

NB: to all South Sudanese within or outside the countryside please, please. Let us all stand together for the betterment of South Sudan. Those whom Dr. John Garang said in his speeches, are within the transition government of national unity today, we are seeing those like Hussein in Government and we expect this government and South Sudan to go forward. To my opinion, this government needs our collective efforts, if we fail to unite our hands together then the upcoming election will not take place as scheduled. (Hussein Abdellbagi Akol) and his boys will keep on pushing communities into tribal war just to remain in his position.

Wise men kept quiet knowing who his fueling the war between Twic and Ngok.

Positions of Ngok Dinka' Representatives on the order of SSPDF' CDF and Way forward

6th December 2023, the Representatives of the Abyei Area, in the Council of States, Civil Societies; and Chiefs held a press conference yesterday in the Capital city Juba, 5th December 2023, to comment on the order issued by 1st. Lt. Gen. Santino Deng Wol, the SSPDF' Chief of Defence Forces, on the continuation of the conflict between Dinka Ngok of Abyei and Twic Community of Warrap State.

1. In a press conference, Hon. Tabitha Chol Minyiel, Chairperson of Health Committee of the Council of States, appreciated the order and decision taken by Chief of Defence, to intervene in the conflict between the two sisterly communities and also to create a buffer zone to stop the ongoing attacks from the both sides, the order directed to form a joint unit from Division (3) and (11).

Hon. Tabitha, welcomed the initiative, but as representatives of Ngok Dinka in Juba, they have some concerns and reservations, she stated that; as all of you are aware, we have conducted a press conference on 19th November 2023, to condemn the involvement of elements from Division (3) under the command of Gen. Akuei Ajou, ditto, the elements from Division (11).

Furthermore, Hon. Tabitha, added that, Gen. Akuei, was accused of taking sides and fuelling the conflict in previous incidents, and it was obviously mentioned in the report of the Council of State' Committee, which was chaired by Hon. Angelo Beda, the member of the Council of States, hence, Gen. Akuei Ajou, has become biased and not neutral in this conflict.

in addition, Hon. Tabitha, added that; their reservations on participants of Division (11) is on its nature of formation, which Twic are majority, so it is not fair to assign the two divisions to silence the gun between the two communities.

Moreover, Hon. Hon. Tabitha, emphasizes that they welcomed the step taken by Gen. Santino Deng Wol, but their reservations should be taken seriously, to earn the trust of citizens on the ground, finally, she asked the SSPDF' leadership to deploy the proposed forces in the border between Abyei Area and Twic County not inside the Abyei Area.

2. Ms. Acheng Deng, the Chairperson of Youth Association in Juba, in her remarks, she appreciated the roles of SSPDF and the initiative of 1st Lt. Gen. Santino Deng Wol, SSPDF' Chief of Defence Forces, deploys more forces, in order to maintain the peace between Ngok Dinka of Abyei and Twic Community of Warrap State.

Ms. Acheng, added that as representative of Dinka Ngok, they have two reservations on Gen. Akuei Ajou, participates in providing protection and security, because he ordered elements from Division (3) under his command to take off their uniform and fight alongside the Twic youth on 19th November 2023.

In addition, Ms. Acheng Deng, raised a very impressive question, on how can Gen. Akuei Ajou, be part of peace efforts while he was the one who ordered some of his forces to take sides in communal conflict to fight civilians, then the question arises is that how can they guarantee the safety of Ngok people under the command of Gen. Akuei Ajou, while he already took sides.

Furthermore, Ms. Acheng, added that, Gen. Akuei, also tried to trigger war between the community of Ngok and Aweil in Northern Bahr el Ghazel State, after the 13th November incident of Ayoak in Alal County, by telling them that their people, particularly their sons are being killed by Ngok Youth, and this has caused a lot of tension between the two communities.
Ms. Acheng, asserted, how can Abyei people guarantee that he (Gen. Akuei Ajou) will not continue inciting more conflict given the fact that he is still a commander of Division (3).

In addition, Ms. Acheng, raised more reservations on Division (11) which is based in Twic County "Miyom Anyon" and the majority of the forces they are of Twic origin, and she further added; what is very interesting is that they are assigned officially to have an essential role in bringing peace between the two communities while they are involved in the communal conflict.

In her conclusion, Ms. Acheng, emphasizes their reservations as youth and rejected the order issued by CDF, and she advised Gen. Santino Deng, to deploy forces from other divisions except the two mentioning divisions of (3) and (11) because they have become parts of conflict.

3. Chief Ngor Mithiang Bagat, in his statement, followed suits of the previous speakers, and accused Gen. Akuei Ajou, the Commander of Division (3) of involvement in Ngok and Twic Communal conflict, as well, the Division (11) Known as Miyom Anyon.

In addition, Chief Ngor, rejected the order of Gen. Santino Deng Wol, to deploy elements of Division (11) to maintain the peace while they are indulging in this war since day one;
"as representative of Ngok Dinka and Abyei people we are much sure that our national army is capable of bringing peace in the region, but elements of Army who indulging themselves in this conflict should be barred from the efforts of stabilizing the situation after the two years of fighting" he said

Moreover, Chief Ngor, added to his statement that, last year the Unit from Division (4) commanded by Maj. Gen. Makal Kuol, were ordered by the same Gen. Santino Deng Wol, to rescue the situation and maintain the peace between the communities of Ngok and Twic, although, he (Gen. Makal ) managed to stabilize the region, but he was accused by the Twic community of not being neutral and biased to the side of Ngok, based on these allegations he was ordered immediately by Gen. Santino Deng Wol, SSPDF' Chief of Defence Forces, to withdraw his forces on the ground, and the mission was shifted to Division (3) and now simply the same thing should happen easily.

Furthermore, Chief Ngor Mithiang, accused Gen. Akuei Ajou, of allowing some of his elements to participate in the looting of Agok Town when his forces were deployed to the Area. Additionally, he retreated their readiness to welcome any neutral force as they do with Tiger Division who are currently deployed widely in Agok Town and they have used Schools, Health and Administration premises, as camps, despite Ngok Dinka reservations about the presence of National Army within the Residential Premises upto date.

4. Chief Malual Yak, the Paramount Chief of Ngok Dinka in Juba, commence his remarks by regretting and condemning the ongoing fighting between Ngok and Twic, and stated that; this war is imposed on them and while they are in self defence position, protecting their land, people; and properties against the barbaric attacks of Twic.

Over and above, Chief Malual, concluded his remarks by refusing any roles to be levelled on Division (3) and (11) besides Gen. Akuei Ajou, and calling for formation of a joint neutral Unit, that should be a multiple Tribes not a certain one as the case in division (11) in which Twic are the majority of it, the neutral proposed Unit if achieved, can play vital roles in these critical moments.

On the other hand, Chief Malual, called the wise men from Twic, to join their hands so peace could prevail between the two communities so this meaningless war can be curbed and saved the lives of Ngok and Twic innocent people.

5. Mrs. Elizabeth Doualbit, the Chairperson of Abyei Women in Juba, started her remarks by concurring with previous statements made by those who are participating in the Press Conference, Elizabeth, accused Gen. Akuei Ajou, of taking sides in conflict, and she going further, to accuse, Gen. Akuei, of suspicions of his part in assassination of Hon. Mayot Kundit, the former Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities and also the former Commissioner of Rum-mamer County.

Furthermore, Mrs. Elizabeth Doualbit, added that; Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area, are for peace and not war, therefore, they are calling for replacement of Division (3) and (11) as well, she asked Gen. Santino Deng Wol, SSPDF' Chief of Defence, acted as he did when the Twic community accused Maj. Gen. Makal Kuol, from Division (4) of being biased and he was excluded immediately by Gen. Santino, while he was doing a professional and great job, hence, she pointed out the attention of Gen. Santino, that time has come to do the same thing and decision with Gen. Akuei Ajou.

Likewise, Hon. Tabitha Chol Minyiel, the Chairperson of Health Committee, Council of State, summarized the Press Conference by welcoming the efforts of Gen. Santino Deng Wol, SSPDF' Chief of Defence, deploys more forces so they can be able to create a buffer zone, moreover, she emphasizes that they are opening for any efforts and good offices for ending the meaningless war and to bring the two communities again together.

Finally, Hon. Tabitha Chol, retreated their call to the Presidency to intervene in solving the conflict between Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area and Twic Community of Warrap State, further, she called for implementation of the resolutions of the Council of State's Ad- Hoc Committee.

There's "a cheap, unscrupulous propaganda being circulated that Ngok community rejected SSPDF's order...".

Its the agreements not Ngok.However, if South Sudan wants to practice powers of sovereignty on Abyei, why only southern part?.

People of Abyei would be grateful if SSPDF troops were asked to be deployed at the northern part of Abyei (Nyama).

If its to intervene in Ngok-Twic Conflic and create a buffer zone, these troops have to be deployed at the Frontier of the Abyei Area and Warrap State at sites such as Nyien-Deng Ayuiel and Ajak- Kuac.

The continued act of deploying South Sudan troops in Abyei's South-Kiir areas is understood as ' Stealthy recognition of Twic unsubstantiated claims '.

Situation Update:

I heard that the GHQs of South Sudan People's Defense Force sent a message/ order for dispatching forces from it's ( 2) diffrent Division of (3rd &11) respectively.
Before dispatching these said above SSPDF'S troops to Abyei Area, I need to clarify important points;

a- Abyei Area according to the Agreement of Temporary Security and Administrative Arrangements for Abyei which was singed in 20th June 2011 in Addis Ababa, and the Security Council's Resolution No.1990 states that Abyei Area is a free weapons zone, and the Government of South Sudan is party to this Agreement;

b- UNISFA regularly reports the presence of SSPDF personnel in Southern Abyei, on 01 March 2023- The UNISFA condemned the reported presence of South Sudan's uniformed personnels inside the Abyei Area;

c- In it's meeting No.9467th on 6 November 2023 on Abyei, Security Council calls on Sudan, South Sudan to demilitarize Abyei saying;
" The present of approximately 200 South Sudan People's Defense Forces and South Sudan's National Police Service in Southern Abyei, and an estimated 60 Sudanese Oil Police in northern Abyei contradicts UNISFA's mandate and Abyei Undemilitraized and weapons- free status, resulting in restrictions in the mission's freedom of movement and calling once again for relevant authorities for their withdrawal".

I would like to educate the public that the forces from these Divisions (3-11) had been deeply involved in Twic- Ngok conflict, intrinsically, Division 11 is merely Tiitweng in uniform and has no different from the proper Tiitweng, and Gen.Akuei of 3rd Division has his own personal business since deployed by Hussein Abdel Bagi in Abyei.

In finding No.(12) in the report on the conflict between Twic and Ngok,South Sudan Concil of States Adhoc Committee mentioned the following:
" The Committee found that Maj.Gen. Akuei, Maj.Gen.Makal Kuol Deng and Brig.Gen. Chol Madol ,the commanders of Battalion 7b and taskforce stationed in Agok by the Vice president for Service Cluster have gravely contributed to the conflict by allowing the Army to participate in the communal conflict between Ngok and Twic Dinka ".

By South Sudan insisting to intentionally violates Abyei political and security Status, it is putting herself in the same unscrupulous position of Sudan's Armed Forces ( SAF) which it's presence in northern Abyei is considered sort of occupation.

Instead of SSPDF mimics the violations of ( SAF) in Abyei, its better to comply with UNSC's resolution 1990 and South Sudan's Council of States which precisely called for the redeployment of SSPDF outside Abyei box.
I therefore urge the competent SSPDF authorities to think-over this tendency and act responsibly as a National Army of the Republic of South Sudan and not allowing itself be driven by some individual's political interests.

What's embarrassing about blacks in general is susceptibility to being bought with money or women. It's very worrying when you look at the past and compare it with what Maj. General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr, the force commander of UNISFA is doing in Abyei.

Since last year's meeting with H.E. Hussein Abdelbaggi Ayii, Maj. Gen. Benjamin is acting African. Hussein must have bought him to allow the ongoing slaughtering of innocent Ngok civilians at will. You even begin to trust the Whites or Arabs like Pakistani battalion more than Ghanian battalion. Since the arrival of Pakistani battalion, northern Abyei experienced stability through restrictions on Misseriya movement with guns according to Chapter VII of UN Security Council.

The behavior of selling a brother may be genetic to black people. That's why you can be related by blood with someone, but when money or woman appear, you become strangers and enemies.

We call on UN Security Council and AU Security Council to replace Maj. Gen. Benjamin of Ghanaian battalion with someone who has humanity and sense of duty. He allows enemies into the Box and stricts our people from protecting themselves.

A UN soldier and 8 civilians were killed in a South Sudan army SSPDF attack on south of Abyei villages.

Sources in the Abyei region said that the South Sudanese army, led by the commander of the Division 3, General Akuei Ajou, attacked villages south of the Abyei Administrative Area.

The attackers clashed with Ghanaian forces affiliated with the United Nations Mission in Abyei, which led to the killing of one of the UN soldiers.

G*i Mashik militias, Akuei Ajou soldiers, and Titweng militias attacked the villages of Angot, Wun Shuei and Wun Feit in Rum Amir County in the of Abyei Special Administrative Area.

The source from within the Wunyik Command in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State indicated that General Akuei Ajou moved forces from the Division 3 to participate in the communal conflict.

An intelligence source from the south Sudanese intelligence said that General Akuei Agou has kinship ties with the Twic county of Warrap State, General Akuei supported Twic in their war the people of Abyei.

The source revealed that he wrote a detailed report on the movements and alliances of the Vice President of the Republic, Sheikh Hussein Abdul Baqi Akol, with the leaders of Twic and the commander of Division 3, General Akuei Agiu.

Last week, clashes occurred in Ayuak Camp in the Abyei Administration due to soldiers’ unruliness and harassment of users of the national road linking Abyei with other Bahr el Ghazal states.

Eyewitnesses said that they saw government troops moving from the division command towards Abyei.

Meanwhile, sources inside the UNICEF headquarters in Abyei said that they met with South Sudanese troops deployed in several locations.

South Sudanese army told international forces that they were deployed through order of the Division 3 Commander.

This morning, a group consisting of Twic armed youth, the renegade G*i Machiek militia based in Ajak Kuac, and SSPDF soldiers disguised in civilian attires, led by Maj. Gen. Akuei Ajou, the commander of 3rd division of SSPDF based in Wun-Yiik launched an attack on the civilian villages of Anguot and Wauchin in Rumamer County, in Abyei Special Administrative Area.

The number of casualties is currently unknown as the fighting continues to expand.

According to an unnamed source, who is a son of Twic, but chose to remain anonymous for security reasons, Gen. Akuei Ajou has brought with him some soldiers from Wun-Yiik, which he dressed in civilian clothings to join Twic armed youth and their sons from the SSPDF's 11th division in Miyom Anyuon. These individuals are dressed in civilian clothings to support the Twic armed youth in the attack on Abyei civilians.

Akuei Ajou who now commands a joint forces comprising of Twic armed youth, the renegade G*i Machiek forces, and SSPDF soldiers disguised as civilians, has reportedly addressed these forces during parade and mobilization rallies in Mayan-Abun on 15th November 2023.

He was saying and stating that a final attack should be launched to Abyei in all directions, with the SSPDF soldiers dressed as civilians attacking Abyei town which is now densely populated in the western direction. Another front is directed towards Athony, Malual Aleu, and Akechnial, with a heavy attack specifically targeting Agok. Additionally, there are fronts directed towards Aneet and the eastern areas of Miyom Ngok, Magar, Anguot, and Awal.

Akuei Ajou emphasized that this attack should be aimed at inflicting heavy harm on Abyei civilians, with the intention of forcing the survivors to abandon their South Sudanese identities. He further stated that the Ngok people would then cross River Kiir and reclaim their Sudanese identity.
