🚨 NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!
Dae Bogan Music is the Head of Third-Party Partnerships with The Mechanical Licensing Collective, a newly-formed nonprofit organization designated by the U.S. Copyright Office pursuant to the historic Music Modernization Act of 2018.
Starting in January 2021, The MLC will issue and administer blanket mechanical licenses to eligible streaming and download services (digital service providers or DSPs) in the United States. The MLC will then collect the royalties due under those licenses from the DSPs and pay songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers.
In this episode, we start by talking about his journey from the Midwest to LA in pursuit of a music career, his experience as a founder and former CEO of multiple music-tech startups (which was how we met), hard lessons learned from entrepreneurship, and how he landed an Executive role with The MLC.
Lastly, it was imperative that I addressed some of the misinformation floating around the web regarding The MLC royalty collection. Dae dispelled the myths regarding distributor payouts, and reassured us that The MLC is committed to matching "Black Box" royalties.
If you're an entrepreneur, music creator or publisher, this is a must watch! Episode #007 is available on all streaming platforms and Youtube. Tune in at http://richoffpassion.com.
