Assimilation vs Integration
Assimilation in a church causes people of a different culture to drop their heritage and traditions to adopt the majority culture of worship. It is a stagnant atmosphere, causing minority cultures to either disappear or separate from the majority.
Integration in the church, on the other hand, is a vision that isn't so rigid that it can't see the beauty in other cultures. Common ground can be found while respecting the historical heritage and traditions of multiple cultures.
On the Above the Noise podcast, we discuss how faith leaders can build integrated communities rather than churches that force assimilation on minority cultures.

Be like Christ
Oftentimes, people expect minority members to assimilate into their church culture instead of broadening their view of worshipping God. We aren't called to emulate anyone other than Christ. As long as Christ is the focus of our worship, service, and teaching, we can find ways to integrate different cultures into our churches.
