I realized that the creative opportunities of my DREAMS would not find me if they could not RECOGNIZE me.

As an actor and model, I found myself constantly shape-shifting into the various boxes I was told would lead to creative “success”.

I found myself WAITING on the industry to give me the green light, the golden ticket, to be ALLOWED to participate and contribute to the spaces I felt called to be in.

I found myself waiting on validation from institutions that were NOT set up to validate me.

RECLMD was born out of a new found awareness that my OWN permission was all I ever needed to live a fulfilling artistic life. And that my art NEEDS me, AS I AM.

RECLMD seeks to inspire other artists to create AUTONOMOUSLY, without permission, and stay true to the AUTHENTICITY of their work.

YOUR art needs you, AS YOU ARE ⚡️

Dream opportunities don’t present themselves by mistake!

Listen, most people don’t know what the hell they’re doing until, one day, they *kinda* do. A big part of leveling up as a working artist is accepting those big, unexpected opportunities like you DESERVE them.

Regardless of your “I’m not ready” thoughts, use those seemingly impromptu opportunities as proof that you ARE ready. You’ll likely make mistakes that’ll teach you how to be better; grant yourself compassion as you navigate those unfamiliar waters and HAVE FUN!

What would your work look like if you stopped avoiding and began embracing falling deeply in and out of love with people, moments, and ideas; Losing and finding purpose; hitting rock bottom and being reborn? Imagine the souls you would awaken by reminding them of themselves. Imagine what you could awaken within yourself.

They’ve tried so hard to erase us.

White supremacy. The patriarchy. Homophobia. Anti-transness. Ableism. Ageism.

These are just a few of the oppressive systems that have historically silenced our art-making. They’ve conditioned us to believe we’re not valuable enough to participate. That what we offer isn’t enough. That who we are, in all our complexity, is not worth telling the world about. That our time is coming, just not now. And when we are offered the opportunity, we should be grateful, kneeling at their feet, not making too much noise with our own perspective.

⚡️

Artistic autonomy. That’s what RECLMD is for. Providing opportunity for Black and Brown artists to create what they want, how they want. Our art is our healing. We can’t wait for permission to heal.

⚡️

At RECLMD, we’re here to remind you of your magic and offer it a platform to grow and evolve. If you have an idea you’ve been wanting to actualize but have been putting it off for reasons you can’t *really* defend, we feel you. It’s not your fault. They purposely taught us to doubt our power.
