Antonio Conte: After calling players ‘selfish’ and criticizing club culture, the manager Got Sacked from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur says it has parted with manager Antonio Conte “by mutual agreement” less than two years after he took over at the English Premier League club.

Tottenham is currently fourth in the Premier League table, two points clear of Newcastle with the top four clubs clinching a spot in next season’s Champions League.

In Conte’s first year with the club, Tottenham qualified for the Champions League in 2021-22 but was beaten by AC Milan in the round of 16 earlier this month.

The club was also eliminated from the FA Cup after a loss to second-tier Sheffield United in March.

“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement released by the club Sunday.

“We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

The decision comes after Conte’s scathing analysis of the team following its 3-3 draw against Southampton on March 18.

A furious Conte, who joined Tottenham in November 2021, targeted the players’ attitude, the ownership, and the culture of the club in an emotional post-match media conference after his side threw away a two-goal lead.

“For me this is unacceptable. We are winning 3-1, in control, and concede two goals,” Conte said after the match.

“I think it’s better to go into the problem, we are not a team. We are 11 players that go into the pitch. I see selfish players who don’t want to help each other and don’t put their heart [into it]. This season compared to last, now we are worse in this aspect. When you are not a team you cannot improve.”

“It is easy in this way,” added Conte. “Tottenham’s story is this. Twenty years there is the owner and they never won something but why? The fault is only for the club or every manager who stays here. I have seen the managers that Tottenham had on the bench.”

Spurs have won a trophy in the last 20 years – the League Cup final in 2008 – and also reached the Champions League final in 2019, before losing 2-0 to Liverpool. However, the club last won a top-English title over half a century ago.

Cristian Stellini will take over as acting manager at Tottenham for the remainder of the season, while Ryan Mason will assume the assistant head coach role.
Conte has yet to comment on his departure from Spurs.

Cristiano Ronaldo jets off to Saudi Arabia as unveiling plans for transfer revealed

Cristiano Ronaldo completed a mega-money move to Saudi club Al-Nassr last week after leaving Manchester United and is flying off to the Middle East ahead of his official unveiling and debut for his new club

Former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is flying over to Saudi Arabia ahead of his official Al-Nassr unveiling.

Ronaldo sealed a big-money move to the Middle East last week. He agreed to a £173million per-year deal until 2025.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on the move, his first outside of a major European league, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner said: "I'm thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country, the vision that Al Nassr has is very inspiring. I am very excited to join my teammates, to help the team to achieve more success."

It appears that the veteran striker has wasted no time in getting down to work ahead of his debut for Al-Nassr and is already making his way over to the country. In a video shared on the club's and his own personal social media channels, Ronaldo was pictured seated in a private jet and had a simple message for supporters, saying: "Hi guys, see you soon!"

Ronaldo is expected to arrive in the country in the coming hours and will not have to wait long to get into action. Al-Nassr have already announced that he will be presented at Mrsool Park during an open training session, with supporters getting their first chance to see Ronaldo don the club's shirt for the first time.

World Cup 2022: Diego Alonso vows Uruguay will 'give everything' against Ghana

Uruguay coach Diego Alonso says his team will 'give everything' in their decisive group H match against Ghana on Friday.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice for Portugal in their 2-0 win over the South Americans to leave the bottom of the group.

However, it's far from over with the Sky-Blues still in with a chance to qualify as they battle old foes Ghana in a cagey encounter on Friday.

Uruguay languish at the bottom of Group H but could still qualify if they beat Ghana on Friday and Portugal win or draw against South Korea.

And coach Diego Alonso has vowed his team will give everything to qualify.

"We are going to give everything in the next game to qualify. "he said
Uruguay, who had knocked Portugal out of the 2018 World Cup, will rue a string of chances on the break: midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur skipped past three players only to see his shot brilliantly saved, Maxi Gomez hit the post and Luis Suarez shot into the side netting.

"If he has the stamina, why not?" - Nyaho Tamakloe reacts to Asamoah Gyan's World Cup desire .

Former Ghana Football Association president Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe appears to support Asamoah Gyan's desire to be part of the Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup.Gyan, 36, stated in a recent interview that he has not retired and is planning a sensational return to the Black Stars after being sidelined since 2019. The former Sunderland striker revealed his desire to go to Qatar, but admitted he must be in peak physical condition to be considered.

Gyan, who hasn't played competitive football in 15 months and has been without a club since October of last year, has begun training in the hopes of being fit enough to be considered by Black Stars coach Otto Addo.''Asamoah Gyan has made an incredible mark in Ghana football. He is a good footballer and if he has the stamina, why not?” the Hearts of Oak board member said as quoted by Graphic Sports.

The majority of those who have responded to Gyan's interview are against him, but Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe believes those who condemn Gyan because of his age should consider what Cameroon legend Roger Milla did for his country at the 1994 World Cup at the age of 38, as well as England's Stanley Matthews during the 1950s.
"Roger Milla opted to play in the World Cup at an old age and did well. We can also talk about Stanley Matthews of England who was a key figure in the team and was known as the tactical magician.

“He was later invited to Ghana by Ken Harrison, who was then General Manager of Hearts of Oak in the 1950s," he recalled.

"If he can train with the present team and the coach finds him fit, he should be invited because I strongly believe if he can match the tempo at training and the physique, he should be able to play."I think Gyan has the skill because when he is running with the ball, defenders fear to come near him. He has the skills and tactics but the strength to play is the problem. If he can work on that, he will be a fantastic addition to the World Cup,” he added.

Gyan has scored a record 51 goals for Ghana.

Everton make official contact with Ajax over midfielder Mohammed Kudus

English club Everton have made an official contact with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam to express interest in signing their Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus,

The Premier League club made contact with the former European champions on Saturday night to officially express interest in signing the talented player.
Agents close to the deal told Ghana's leading football news outfit Ghanasoccernet.com that Everton spoke with officials on Ajax about taking the player on loan.
The Toffees also told the Amsterdam-based club they will take the player on loan until the end of the season before they make a move for a permanent deal.

This is a significant step in the talented youngster's quest to leave Ajax to go on loan as he is seeking regular playing time with the 2022 World Cup looming.
Goodison Park were subsequently asked to put the offer on paper before it is considered even though Ajax stated their reluctance to release the player.
Despite the hesitation, Ajax are expecting the official bid to be placed by Sunday before the Dutch side gives an official response to the offer from Everton.
Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder, who is refusing Kudus playing time claiming his role is on the bench, revealed last week that Everton had not contacted the club over the Ghanaian star.

Now that the official contact has been made Ajax have been forced to make a decision on the future of the player who is keen on leaving on loan for playing time.
Everton became the first club to make an offer for the player even though several clubs in Europe including four English sides, expressed interest.
Leicester City, Wolves, Tottenham and Leeds United are among the teams to have expressed interest in signing the player even though they are yet to make official bids for the player.

Kudus is a highly talented player and played a significant role in Ghana's qualification to the 2022 World Cup as the Black Stars' key playmaker.

The 22-year-old joined Ajax from Danish side Nordsjaelland two years ago for about £8 million, showing the level of talent of the midfielder.

Nobody has asked for revenge on Uruguay from you – Bulldog on Asamoah Gyan’s World Cup bid

Revenge on Uruguay should not be part of Asamoah Gyan’s reasons to want to return to the Ghana squad for the World Cup in Qatar because Ghanaians have not asked for that ‘favour’, artiste manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson has said.

The showbiz personality, well known as Bulldog, said on UTV’s United Showbiz, Saturday, that while he acknowledges efforts the striker who once captained the senior national soccer team, Black Stars, is making towards a comeback, it is inappropriate for the footballer to target revenge for the country.

“What is the revenge about? Do you think Ghanaians want revenge? Are you the one seeking revenge or Ghanaians? Have we told you we need revenge? When did we speak to you about revenge? Why is he saying that?” Bulldog asked.

He mentioned that Asamoah Gyan may be seeking his interest having missed a penalty against Uruguay during the 2010 World Cup quarter-final stage.

“When you’re a legend, you’d want to correct some errors before you retire; that is what he wants to do. Honestly, he did well for Ghana but that penalty he missed has become a dent,” Bulldog said.

Ghana after qualifying for the 2022 World Cup is in the same group as Uruguay. The Black Stars will, however, not face Uruguay until their third and final Group H game.

“The circumstances are not the same. If it’s because of revenge, he should stay home,” Bulldog asserted.

36-year-old Gyan courted conversation when he announced his preparedness for this year's World Cup in Qatar.

He told the BBC: "Talent wise, everything is there already, so I just have to prepare physically. The World Cup is every footballer's dream. I think I've got a bit of energy left in me to prove myself once again.

"I've been out for almost two years now due to injuries but I just need to get my body back in shape. It's an eight-week programme and according to my physical instructor I'm improving faster than he thought.”

In his revenge narrative, Gyan said: "When the draw was made and they saw Uruguay in Ghana's group [in Qatar] the only thing that came into mind was revenge. Ghanaians want revenge.

"Personally, I just sat back and smiled because I understand how the game goes. What happened in 2010 is behind me [but] maybe there might be another opportunity."

"The most important game for Ghanaians right now is the game against Uruguay. Because this is at the back of everybody's mind, going for revenge."

Asamoah Gyan is the all-time leading goal scorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals. He is also the top African goal scorer in the history of the World Cup, with 6 goals.

Footage of 36 Year Old Asamoah Gyan Training After Declaring Desire to Play at the World Cup Spotted

Legendary Ghanaian forward, Asamoah Gyan, is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to make a return to the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup.

Asamoah Gyan revealed his desire to make another appearance at the World Cup on Tuesday August 16, 2022 and has been undergoing personal training to get back in shape for the tournament in Qatar.

In a video posted on social media, Gyan is seen seriously going through some drills as he sheds a bit of weight off.

Gyan was Ghana's captain at the 2014 edition where Ghana exited at the group stages.

The former Sunderland forward remains the African player with the most goals at the World Cup, having scored six goals in three tournaments.

Asamoah Gyan last played for Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities and has been inactive since April 2021.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Asamoah Gyan is not giving up on his dreams of playing at a fourth FIFA World Cup, as he draws inspiration from the legendary Roger Milla. The 36-year-old is currently unattached but has started training to stay fit before November's World Cup in Qatar.

Gyan, who was speaking to the BBC, believes he might be a surprise inclusion to Otto Addo's team for the global showpiece.

Asamoah Gyan wants revenge against Uruguay at the 2022 World Cup Asamoah Gyan is hoping for the opportunity to make amends after his penalty miss at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa against Uruguay. The 36-year-old has disclosed his desire to play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year. And with Ghana set to face nemesis Uruguay in group H, Gyan dreams of revenging the painful defeat 12 years ago.

GFA President showers praises on Mohammed Salisu.

( Kurt Okraku met with Salisu in the UK )

Mr Kurt E.S Okraku President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has heaped praises on Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu, as a pure talent who has a lot to achieve in the coming years.

The GFA boss earlier today was seen in a video with the Ghanaian player in the United Kingdom (UK) having a talk on his future in the Black Stars.

According to Mr Okraku, the youngster was someone who had a lot to show to the world and described him as a person whose talent was from God.

“You have a God-given talent and this is not in doubt, I still believe in you son.”

The GFA president further urged Salisu to honour his call-up to play for the Black Stars as the team prepares for the World Cup and the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in June this year.

The Southampton defender in response to the GFA president’s request said “the problem is, everything is with you authorities, without you, things won’t work.

"I hope you understand my point. As for players, we can’t do much, but the issue lies with you authorities.”

The 23-year old has in the past not been able to honour his invitation to the Black Stars team due to personal reasons.

The defender accepted to play for Black Stars in the World Cup qualifiers games against Nigeria but failed to make it due to a hamstring injury he picked against West Ham.

Salisu is likely to be seen in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar next month.

The defender, who currently holds a record as the defender with most clearances in the English Premier League this season, would seek to help the Black Stars book qualification to the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

The GFA President also paid Arsenal star, Thomas Partey a visit at his club.

28/03/2022

Ghana's interim head coach Otto Addo says he does not see Nigeria as favourites going into Tuesday's second leg of their crunch World Cup play-off.

The first leg ended 0-0 on Friday in Kumasi, meaning a home win in Abuja would be enough to send the Super Eagles through to their seventh finals.

Addo is confident that Ghana, who crashed out of this year's Africa Cup of Nations, can still reach Qatar.

"The result doesn't change anything. When we go there we want to win."

"Even though our Africa Cup of Nations was not good this year, you saw we matched Nigeria in the first leg," said the former Black Star.

"So I don't see them as favourites, the pressure will be on them at home and away goals can hurt a lot."

The two West African rivals came into the crunch tie having both suffered early Nations Cup exits earlier this year, but in contrasting styles.

Ghana exited without a win and a humbling defeat to Comoros to exit bottom of their group, which also included Morocco and Gabon, in Cameroon.

Nigeria, meanwhile, won all three of their group games to become many people's favourites for the title only to be stunned by Tunisia in the Round of 16.

Addo, who was appointed interim coach after Milovan Rajevac was sacked after the Nations Cup, is confident his squad can more than match their Abuja hosts on Tuesday.

"They have high quality players but they've got respect for us and I thought the match in Kumasi was equal in terms of performance."

Addo also praised Ghana's young Ajax star Mohammed Kudus for his performance in the first leg but has called on him to be more positive going forward in the return fixture.

"He did well, and he's obviously a player Ghana missed during the Nations Cup [when he was injured]," said Addo, who played for Ghana

"I know the fans in Kumasi loved it when Kudus was doing his thing but sometimes he could be more precise and determined to go forward.

"He has the speed and if he is in front of an opponent I think he can create more, but he's an exceptional player, no doubt."

Nigeria-Ghana is one of five crunch ties on Tuesday that will determine which teams will represent the continent at the tournament in Qatar.

In the other ties, both Algeria and Tunisia will be confident of building on their 1-0 wins in Cameroon and Mali respectively.

Morocco will hope a home win can follow their 1-1 draw in DR Congo, while Egypt must travel to protect a narrow one-goal lead at the home of African champions Senegal.

Qatar World Cup 2022: Louis van Gaal comments 'bland', says tournament chief Hassan Al-Thawadi.

The secretary general of the 2022 World Cup organising committee has responded to Louis van Gaal's "bland statement" in which the Netherlands boss said it was "ridiculous" having Qatar as hosts.

Van Gaal suggested holding the event in the Middle Eastern country was about "money" and "commercial interests".

But Hassan Al-Thawadi said the Arab world "deserves" the opportunity and will not "make any apologies" for it.

The tournament begins on 21 November with the final on 18 December in Doha.

The World Cup was moved to winter because of extreme heat during the summer and has been dogged by controversy.

Last year, Amnesty International released a report accusing the country of failing to implement its own laws designed to improve conditions for migrant workers.

The Qatar government said it "rejects" Amnesty's assertion.

Equality campaign group Kick It Out announced the formation

of a working group to look at inclusivity issues in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal.

Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate said it is "a great shame" that some England fans will not travel to the tournament.

The Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, but have booked their place for this year.

Hearts of Oak Sulley Muntari _1

Hearts of Oak slipped to sixth after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aduana Stars on Sunday in Dormaa.
Sam Adams scored the decisive goal on the stroke of halftime as Aduana consolidated their place as runner-up to Asante Kotoko.

The defeat means Hearts are winless in Dormaa in eight years.

The Phobians were without talisman Sulley Muntari who missed the game due to injury.

They lost trusted goalkeeper Richard Attah during the game. His replacement Richmond Ayi conceded the game’s only goal as Adams fired home a powerful low drive.

Hearts can end the day 15 points behind Kotoko as the league leaders host Bibiani Gold Stars in Kumasi.

Also on Sunday, WAFA won their first game since January 30 as they beat Real Tamale United in Sogakope to boost their survival hopes.

The Academy Boys had forward Justus Torsutsey to thank for scoring the only goal in the tight game.

AshantiGold defeated King Faisal 2-0, Accra Lions secured a 1-0 win over Dreams FC and Berekum Chelsea recorded a similar scoreline against Karela United.

Mohamed Salah: Another Premier League record for Liverpool and Egypt forward

Mohamed Salah has now scored 152 goals for Liverpool, making him the ninth highest scorer in the club's history.

Mohamed Salah is running out of records to beat at club level, as the Egyptian set another Premier League landmark in Liverpool's hammering of Leeds United.

The 29-year-old scored twice and set up another goal in Wednesday's 6-0 victory over the Whites, taking him to 160 goal involvements in the English top flight and a new record for an African player.
That figure, comprising 116 goals and 44 assists, means Salah has beaten the previous tally set by former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.

Remarkably Salah, who has been Liverpool's top goalscorer in each of his four seasons at the club, has achieved this feat in 72 fewer games than Drogba.

Salah is now 27th in the all-time Premier League goal involvement list, but almost halfway to Alan Shearer's record of 324.

The Liverpool forward leads this season's scoring charts with 19 league goals - seven more than second-placed team-mate Diogo Jota despite missing two games while on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Pharaohs captain Salah moved to Anfield in June 2017 and last Saturday he became the 10th player to score 150 goals in all competitions for Liverpool.
He reached that total in just 233 appearances, with only former England World Cup winner Roger Hunt doing so faster than him in the early 1960s.

Salah lifted the Premier League title with Liverpool in 2019-20, and the win over Leeds helped the Reds move three points behind league leaders Manchester City as they bid to regain it.
Back in October, Salah overtook Drogba and became the top-scoring African in Premier League history, and fellow Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has also now surpassed the Ivorian.

Mane, 29, also netted twice against Leeds, and the Senegalese moved on to 106 goals - two more than Drogba in two fewer games.

Mane's Senegal beat Salah's Egypt in the Nations Cup final earlier this month, and the two players will face each other in March in a two-legged play-off for a place in the 2022 World Cup.

Before that, the pair will aim to add another trophy to Liverpool's cabinet when they face Chelsea on Sunday in the League Cup final.
However, they are not the only African players setting records in Europe.

Ivory Coast and Ajax's Sebastien Haller extended his Champions League scoring streak in Wednesday's last-16 first leg draw at Benfica.
The 27-year-old became the first man to score in his first seven Champions League games, as well as becoming Ajax's top goal scorer in a single European Cup or Champions League campaign.
