Recovery, a limited edition print for bushfire relief, from an original painting by Shaun Tan for Rules of Summer. Together with Beinart Gallery and Splitting Image Colour Studio, a specially priced print is being sold to raise money for communities and wildlife restoration in bushfire ravaged regions of Australia and to support organisations committed to long term climate justice and advocacy for change. 100% of all proceeds will split evenly among the following four charitable organisations: Greening Australia, Zoos Victoria Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund, Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network and Doctors for the Environment Australia.
Here are a few words from Shaun Tan about the work: "Recovery is one of my personal favourite images, a scene from the picture book Rules of Summer (2013) based on a recurring childhood dream. What at first is a very grim and menacing landscape reveals itself to be a scene of compassion and hope, which to me reflects something of real feeling currently experienced in many parts of Australia, a mix of both deep dread and inspiring humanity. Much gratitude to Beinart Gallery and Splitting Image for working pro bono to support this project, which if successful stands to raise $50,000 AUD for bushfire relief."
