Good morning πŸ™ the sun is shining.....

After a frosty start in places, it will be nice in Scotland, with sunny intervals for much of the day. The odd coastal shower is possible, especially in the east. Showery rain will push into the west later this evening.

Further south, after a dry, bright start, a deep low will move along the Channel, with 50mph winds and a Yellow Rain warning has been issued from the UK Met; you could expect 40 to 50mm of rain on top of saturated ground. Rain will affect Central Wales and England southward. Showers may affect Ireland.

Temperatures on the chilly side in Scotland with 4 to 7C, a wee bit milder in the far south; 8 to 10 for the rest of the UK. Expect a fine sunny Friday for Scotland; bright further south too, with a few showers. Feeling chilly or rather cold everywhere. Not all bad news today, hope you have a good one!

Jason's Weather Window's autumn and November forecast suggested that there could be a couple of cold snaps during the second half of the month. It's been quite chilly in Scotland since the weekend, but I can see a more definite signal of colder, drier days or even spells.

First at the beginning of next week; then at the end of the week and into next weekend. The Northwest will be wet and windy mid week; most other areas will be faily dry.

What we can expect is frost by night and a good few dry, bright and crisp days, at long last.

Signals suggest that as we move into the beginning of December that we become unsettled again. So we have two little weather windows: early and late next week. Good news at last! Have a lovely evening, Jason

Hello there! We have mixed fortunes today, with wet conditions for much of Scotland and a drier brighter regime in the south. Tomorrow fortunes will reverse with rain, wind and a possible storm in the south, with brighter conditions for Scotland.

Today rain is moving on a northwest/ southeast tagetory; although the North and Northeast may be dry and bright. Feeling cold in Scotland today, with temperatures 6 to 8C, under par for this time of year. Further south, it will be rather chilly too at 9 to 11C, although it will feel more pleasant in any sunshine.

The rain will clear Scotland with a touch of frost this evening and overnight; tomorrow will be eight, cold, crisp and sunny. Will the south have another storm?

With the weather being so heavy going, I will be looking out for drier, brighter "Weather Windows" here on the channel and also winter protract, which are looking exciting to say the least! Have a great day, Jason's Weather WindowπŸŒˆβ˜”οΈπŸ’¦

How's the November forecast with Jason's Weather Window been performing? This is what I realised at the beginning of the month:

Jason's Weather Window's November and early December Forecast: "Wellies and Woolies at the Ready"!

I'm keeping with the autumn forecast and predicting an unsettled, wet and often windy November and early December. On most weeks, low pressure will dominate, bringing us rain, showers and the occasional storm.

Mild but not especially so due to the jet stream being to our south from time to time, especially during the first half of November. Despite the unsettled pattern, I envisage a few ridges of high pressure attempting to establish towards Scandinavia or the east; this should deliver a few drier moments, when it could get rather chilly, for a few days, before the next Atlantic system swings in.

There could be a duel between high and low from time to time, with low pressure always in the ascendancy, influencing our weather most, with this 'cyclonic block' slowing the progression and movement of weather systems from west to east. It is pointing out that any high pressure may be further south from mid to later month; there could also be a few mild days in the mix, from mid month in the south.

Overall, despite chilly feeling days, due to mild nights on many occasions, it is likely that overall it will be milder than normal. It is likely to be wetter than normal too, especially later in the period, in the north and west.

As we move into later November and early December, there is a slightly higher chance of a cold snap, with some frost or fog; again perhaps a brief, drier moment; a breather in an unsettled, wet, windy and chilly feeling period. Confidence is low and consequently we may have to wait until January to have a proper blast of winter?

What is interesting in this pattern, should it come off, is that like October, there are attempts to build Scandinavian highs (with easterlies); despite not coming to much, could this be setting up the mid to late winter pattern? At the same time, if the Azores high set up, it could be the signal of a wet, windy winter? Time will tell! Thanks for tuning in. Wellies and woolies to the ready! Have a great late autumn and early winter from Jason's Weather WindowπŸŒ¬πŸ’¦πŸŒˆ

Mini Winter Update with Jason's Weather Window (number three) β›„ β˜ƒοΈ β›„ β˜ƒοΈ

❄ An exciting one if you're dreaming of a cold winter! Does this look like a tri-pole to you? Warm under Greenland, with a cold band (blue) in the Mid Atlantic, with a warm band of water around the tropical Atlantic?

β›„ Well, well well! I've been suggesting this could happen and it's one of the factors that will determine my overall winter forecast. Without any spoilers, if this pattern continues to develop, we could have a negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO).

❄ When the NAO is negative, we tend to have high pressure to the north, around Greenland/ Iceland and low pressure at the Azores; consequently we get onto the cold side of the jet, with north or east winds. I know there's a lot of heat and moisture in the atmosphere[here just now, however this type of pattern allows true Arctic air to escape from the Pole, flooding down into Europe.

β›„ Additionally we have a big advance in snow cover across the Northern Hemisphere; therefore there is already cold air to 'tap into'. Also, El Nino looks to go central (Modoki El Nino), which would also favour some cold potential this winter, especially during January, February and March. It's all to play for and I'll be releasing my final thoughts on winter 2023/24 in a few weeks time! Thanks so much for tuning in!

Good morning πŸ™ Thunderstorms ⚑will affect the south this morning, with pretty big showers almost anywhere. There should be some bright moments too, particularly SE England, Wales and Ireland. Temperatures 🌑 6 to 10C in the north; 10 to 14C in the south and Ireland. Winds rather fresh, from tbe west, in the west; still hanging onto the easterly wind in parts of Eastern Scotland. Good morning! Gosh another autumnal storm? is currently centred over the Irish Sea, with Amber rain and wind warnings for Ireland and an amber wind warning for the NW of England. Heavy rain, with the potential for flooding with transfer to Eastern Scotland this afternoon, with a rain weather warning here and strong easterly winds. Mild, very wet at times and extremely windy sums up today. Gusts of wind may reach 80mph and there could be thunderstorms or even local tornadic activity in the south! An unsettled week to come, punctuated by a few bright moments, with the risk of another storm on Thursday? I'll keep you informed, Jason's Weather Window πŸŒˆπŸŒ¬β˜”οΈ

, Monday 13 November, looks to be tracking from Northern Ireland into the NW of England and Southwest Scotland tomorrow morning. As it tracks northeastward, there could be coastal gusts of 70 - 80mph, the strongest of the wind will be on the southern flank of the low (Northern, Central England and Northern Wales (Irish Sea Coasts); heavy rain on saturated ground and a risk of thunderstorms or local tornadoes in the south. Keep tuned to the Met Office if you are all concerned. Not all locations will be impacted by this storm and details could change; it is worth researching if you have to travel tomorrow. Take care out there! Jason's Weather Window

Good morning πŸ™ a beautiful start for most, with sunshine for a many locations and showers for some. Best of the sunshine across Scotland this afternoon, with only a few showers, wintery on hills. Sunshine and a few heavy showers further south. Cold in Scotland at 6, 7 or 8C; 8, 9 or 10C if you lucky further south. After a hard frost last night (-5 and -6C in locations), expect a frosty weekend, with sunshine, especially in Scotland. Have a beautiful day, Jason's Weather Window 🌈πŸͺŸπŸπŸ˜Ž
