Next month will be our 1 year anniversary since we launched our online station! The first few months, I would get so excited when I looked at the number of daily listeners and would see 10 or more. Oh, and one or two of those would be me!! LOL More people are listening and a number of them are using their Google or Alexa devices. For this little passion/hobby of mine, when I see that 161 people have listened this week, I'm grateful for every one. Thank you!

In addition to being a fan favorite, Country Music Hall of Fame member Keith Whitley was an enormously influential vocalist in country music and bluegrass, helping spearhead the New Traditionalist revival of classic country music in the 1980s.
Along with his close friend Ricky Skaggs, Randy Travis, and other artists, Whitley reconnected country music to vital traditional sounds and styles. His remarkable body of recorded work has continued to influence country singers who have followed even though, unlike his major contemporaries, Whitley's solo career barely spanned five years.
On May 9, 1989, Whitley died of acute alcohol poisoning just as he was skyrocketing to a level of fame long predicted for the one-of-a-kind country singer. He had finished recording his third RCA album, “I Wonder Do You Think of Me,” with producer Garth Fundis, who had first worked with Whitley on his breakthrough album, “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”
His albums and singles endure as powerful recorded performances. Among the artists who have mentioned Whitley as an important influence are Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Alison Krauss, Blake Shelton, and Kenny Chesney.

Native son of Bakersfield, California, Merle Haggard stands as one of the single most influential singer-songwriters in country music history. His much-chronicled raising and everyman persona appealed to fans and followers around the world. This photo, signed by Haggard, dates from the beginning of his career in the early 1960s.
Haggard was one of country music’s most versatile artists, stylistically mining honky-tonk, blues, jazz, pop, and folk music. He released his first album, “Strangers,” in 1965, followed by roughly seventy albums of wide-ranging repertory: aching ballads (“Silver Wings”), sly, frisky narratives (“It’s Been a Great Afternoon”), semi-autobiographical reflections (“Mama Tried”), political commentaries (“Rainbow Stew”), blue-collar tributes (“Workin’ Man Blues”), and drinking songs that are jukebox, cover-band, and closing-time standards (“I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink”).
Artists influenced by Haggard are legion and include many of country music’s brightest stars, as well as thousands of nightclub musicians. As fiddler Jimmy Belken, a longtime member of the Strangers, Haggard’s exemplary touring band, once told "The New Yorker," “If someone out there workin’ music doesn’t bow deep to Merle, don’t trust him about much anything else.”
He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994.

In 2014 Jacobs won an ACM Award as producer of Lee Brice's "I Drive Your Truck." In addition, he was a co-writer on Garth Brooks' single "More Than a Memory," the first song to debut at Number One on Billboard's Country Singles chart in its history.
