# # TIME # # #

As you will no doubt know if you've heard our latest episode (if not why not, etc) we are looking for nominations for albums for us to listen to in the next series.

The only criteria are:

- it must be interesting
- it must be a complete work (eg not a compilation)
- we can't have heard it before

Clearly you won't necessarily know what we have and haven't heard, but this picture indicates some stuff you can rule out straight away.

You can leave nominations in the comments below or if you're shy you can DM us or email to [email protected]

Nooo! It's the last episode of the season!! We've been saving this one up - it's Neutral Milk Hotel's 1998 classic "In the Aeroplane Over The Sea". It's a phenomenal piece of work and (Anne) Frank-ly we've thrown the kitchen sink at it. It's a bumper episode so hopefully it will keep you going whilst we're away!

The Indie Dads end the season by visiting one of the great sacred cows of indie music with Neutral Milk Hotel's phenomenal 1997 album "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea". This bumper-length episode explores in depth this masterpiece and its exploratio...

Don't let this be The Only One I Know - it's a new episode!

We revisit the indie clubs of our youths with a trip to Tellin Stories by The Charlatans from 1997, via an awful lot of Bob Dylan tracks...

The Indie Dads revisit their northern youths this week with a journey to Madchester and The Charlatans' 1997 album Tellin' Stories - although to be honest it's mainly about Bob Dylan. And terrible, terrible accents.

Yee haw brothers!! This week we go alt-country with our latest episode exploring the southern stylings of Texas' Hovvdy (pronounced "Howdy"), and their 2018 album 'Cranberry'...via, of course, lots and lots of diversions into, for example, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel, James, REM and many many others...

Yee-haw! The Indie Dads take a trip to the deep south this week for an exploration of all things alt-country, based around Hovvdy's 2018 album "Cranberry". As ever, the conversation finds its way to a range of brilliant tunes including The Byrds, ...

WE ARE BACK!

After a short hiatus to reflect on our behaviour (eg going on holiday) we are BACK with a vengeance to discuss John Maus' 2011 offering "We Must Become The Pitiless Censors of Ourselves". Unfortunately we are seemingly unable to censor ourselves so this is another two-part episode. Part 1 is below and I'll stick a link to Part 2 in the comments.

As ever, we have plentiful diversions here, so even if you've never heard of John Maus there's bound to be something you like within it...

The Indie Dads are back after their holidays, taking a delve into John Maus' 2011 synthwave album "We Must Become The Pitiless Censors of Ourselves"...via, of course, diversions into The Stone Roses, The Sisters of Mercy, The Doors, and, erm, 90s ...

The Indie Dads take a trip to West Africa (via Toronto) to meet Ghanaian highlife superstar Ata Kak's rediscovered 1994 LP "Obaa Sima". The Dads debate this via Paul Simon, Robert Johnson, and the obvious touchstones of The Shawshank Redemption a...

Just in time for the weekend, it's a new episode! We take a look at Alex G's 2015 album "Beach Music" in so much depth that we had to split it into two episodes. This is the first - it's only 48 mins so you whizz through it on a trip to the shops (facemask compulsory etc). Or the perfect accompaniment to a day on the beach?

Nick REALLY likes Alex G...so much that we've had to split this into two episodes! Join us for a delve into Alex G's emotional 2015 work "Beach Music", where we explore this dark, weird, beach-to-bedroom record via Bruce Springsteen, REM, and sing...

NEW PODCAST!! NEW PODCAST!!

Yes it’s that time of the week again - the Indie Dads prepare yet another masterpiece for your delectation.

The subject of this week’s in-depth analysis is ”Philosophy of the World”, the 1969 debut for New Hampshire girl group The Shaggs. If you haven’t heard this strange beast of an album then step this way for the full introduction…it’s quite something.

Of course, there’s the usual winding diversions around the history of popular music by way of discussion, so if you HAVE heard the record before, don’t be put off. Please.

The Indie Dads explore the weird and wonderful world of "Philosophy of the World" by The Shaggs, its bizarre beginnings and its influence on a broad range of artists from Frank Zappa to Kurt Cobain, with the usual diversions to Riot Grrrl, Jonatha...
