In a time when adjuncts, quadruple dry hop… and all things experimental rule the landscape, it’s nice to go back to the basics. Hill Farmstead has always made clean, pure and refreshing beers that stand out. Their consistent catalogue of beer never disappoints and you can always count on greatness when drinking any style of beer from them. Their society & solitude series is one we can’t say no to! If you ever see anything from at your local tap room, never pass them up!! Cheers!!

Society & Solitude # 6 Hill Farmstead Brewery (DIPA 8% ABV)
- Imperial pale ale brewed almost exclusively with mosaic hops from the Pacific Northwest

Happy Father’s Day!!!

“Celebrating a first for me with a classic summer beer. Shady Spot ⛱from is a beautiful lemon shandy with just the right amount of lemon. Crisp, clean and super refreshing. Nothing more perfect than to enjoy today with dad and son poolside. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. From both and I we hope you all enjoy well deserved time with your families and a tasty beer.” 🍋🍺

Shady Spot - 4.5% ABV Shandy/Radler by (3.66 Rating)

“Shandy may be fairly new to these shores, but the idea of beer and lemonade mingling together in beautiful, refreshing, taste bud tingling harmony has been known overseas for centuries. There’s nothing more appropriate on a hot summer’s day than a shandy. And because you should never mess with a good thing, Shady Spot is brewed the traditional, dry, English-style way. Sure, we could have spent our afternoons trying to out-do the classic, but it’s hot out there, and we needed a shandy.”

🫠 TIPSY TUESDAY 😵‍💫

“An absolute banger! This 10% abv monster comes in super smooth and hits you right in the face with a tropical punch. Sweet and citrusy. This bad boy is just a touch of what this brewery is capable of. We haven’t highlighted much of .brewing but except some more great reviews from this amazing north western brewery, which sits on the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.”

Clashing Plaid - 3x NEIPA - 10.1% ABV .brewing

“An unbelievably soft and delicate triple dry hopped triple New England IPA. Floral notes of overripe mango, tropical melon, and bright citrus. The extremely low bitterness and slight residual sweetness from extreme amounts of flaked adjuncts provide a strong backbone to support the massive triple dry hop schedule and assertive ABV. Silky smooth mouthfeel and full body. In three words or less: Citrus, floral, tropical.”

FRESHIE FRIDAY!!

“A long overdue post on one fantastic beer and top notch brewery. Lost in Suspension is one of my favorite beers by the gang over in Hellertown, PA. I consider hands down one of the premiere craft beer destinations in eastern PA. Everytime I have one of their beers I’m always so impressed by the craftsmanship of flavor profiles and hop styles. This variant of Lost in Suspension is the cream of the crop. Brewed with Galaxy and Citra (two of my personal favor hops) with the sweetness of apricot purée makes this double IPA super citrusy and beyond tasty. Tropical undertones are just perfection.”

Lost In Suspension - Galaxy, Citra & Apricot - DIPA 7.8% 🍺🍑

“Our Lost in Suspension DIPA, this time dry hopped with Galaxy & Citra, offering aromas/flavors of white grape juice, and tropical/citrus fruits, cold conditioned on apricot puree, further pushing notes of candied stone fruit.”

TRIPLE THREAT!

“So this one was way overdue. An absolute trio of a treat The Other Miller Brewing. These came way to me from an employee from the family business. The three exceptionally delicious beers touched this beer drinker’s palate on all facets. I first started with Nancy Magill’s - Autumn Ale. A 5.5% blonde ale with a slight bite. This beer started with a bitter taste but finished clean and crisp. Great way to start. I then moved into the Winter Ale called Santa’s Choice. This beer absolutely rocks. Some warm spices followed with flavors of the Christmas season. A 6.5% banger. Absolutely refreshing! Finally, I closed off this small flight with the Flying Dutchman Stout. Coming in at 6% great roasted malt notes with a perfect coffee flavor. I couldn’t be any more thrilled to have gotten these! I can’t wait to see what in store for this home brewer based out in the Lehigh Valley!”

Halloween is over but the fear never dies !
had the chills sipping on “Fear” from the great ! This DIPA was in its own lane versus the prior R&B beers we’ve tried this year but never disappoints! It still brought the smooth, hazy, juice bomb you come to expect from the wizards at R&B. Try it if you dare … cheers!!!

In honor of being in the Big Apple , it only felt right to drop this banger from !
Mega Clouds is Mosaic, Citra, Nelson, and Simcoe hops showcase bountiful flavors and aromas of peach sorbet, exotic berries, stone fruit, pineapple cake, and pink starburst. This DIPA is by far the best “slice “ from the west coast we’ve had in ages. Thanks again to our boy for this treat and hanging with all of us over here on …“ the best coast”!!! Cheers !!

We missed posting this on .. we missed posting this on … we even missed ! These sleepless nights with newborns have both of us TRIPPIN!!

So.. we felt it was appropriate to crack open an epic collab with x “Trippy Daydream”! Both of us are huge fans of the Daydream series, to no surprise, this mashup didn’t disappoint. This 8.0% DIPA brewed up with oat cream, a hint of milk sugar and a ton of Citra, Simcoe, Kohatu, Nelson Sauvin and Enigma. Tropical, creamy and citrus notes well balanced in this DIPA. Unfortunately it’s our last one but will be looking forward having more in the future!!

SPECIAL STOUT SUNDAY

: “So this is a very special post for me. As you all have seen we ( and I) have been blessed with our first born! So we decided to pop open this very special beer, Bourbon Barrel Aged Peanut Butter and Banana Born Day (5th Anniversary) Stout by . Originally the intention was to drink right away but for whatever reason I didn’t (let’s just say this year has been interesting). Regardless, I decided (after finding out were we’re gonna have a son) to save it for as long as I can or at least on the special day. Now, I was going to pop it open in the hospital in hopes of making a cool post but as par for the year things didn’t work out for me to open it sooner. Either way, this beer was worth the wait. As alway Magnify did not disappoint. Coming in at a whopping 12.5%, this BBA peanut butter & banana stout was perfect. Storing at roughly 55 degrees for over a year straight helped sustain all the flavors. Although for me personally, I didn’t get much of the cake batter taste, the sweetness was rich and filling. I can’t be any happier for this to be the first beer to celebrate for my son’s birth. Easy 4.25 if I was gonna rate it…”

Bourbon Barrel Aged Peanut Butter and Banana Born Day - Double Imperial Sout - 12.5% ABV

“This immense 12.5% Imperial Stout is brewed with cake batter and aged in bourbon barrels for a year. We then conditioned it on peanut better and banana for a month before bottling. “

🎉NEW RELEASE🎉

Sometimes we talk beer, sometimes just nonsensical banter. Most importantly we reflect on some of the things that happen day to day in our lives. This friendship and bond both Rick and I have created is more than any words can ever be expressed. We are and have been brothers and although not bound by blood I can attest that we are and will always be a family. So it’s an absolute pleasure when we can take moments for ourselves to reflect on how our lives are changing and growing.

This post, even though it’s not necessarily beer related, is so we can take a moment to announce a special addition to the BYA team. Co-host and his beautiful wife have added another boy to this ever growing family. We ( and I) are so beyond excited and happy for you guys and can’t wait for ours to meet yours. We love you guys so much and have been through it all together. We can’t be more thrilled to share the journey of parenthood with our besties. The “Fab Fork” will continue a legacy for generations to come. With all of our love, we welcome Vincent Mianulli to world.

Ricky we got some drinking to do! 🍺

Mel I suppose you can join us too...🍻

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

“ Thought this was a good post to share. My wife and I have been doing a lot of home projects and renovations in anticipation of our newborn. It’s been a lot of work and being in a townhome going up and down several flights of stairs has been exhausting. So having a few moments to sip on cold, refreshing and QUALITY beer made all the hard work worth while. This particular beer from x was awesome. Daddy’s Home is a pure juice bomb packed with wonderful tropical flavors. Sweet with a very clean finish. At 10.6%, I was surprised when that boozy aftertaste didn’t really exist. Thanks to my co-host for passing this bad boy along. Definitely made me relaxing in our finished basement feel like “daddy’s home”.”

“Back when The Veil was oh so brand spanking new we had a fun trip to brew with them and we came up with this banger of a TIPA with Citra, Simcoe and Galaxy. Cheers to our friendship with The Veil and thanks for kicking off the Freaky Friday madness with us!”

What’s your go to be after a hard day’s work?!

Happy Hump-day and most importantly happy Cinco de Mayo to those who are celebrating this traditional US holiday. Regardless of your reasoning for having a drink today, it’s important to know some facts (we don’t know all of them).

1. This not Mexican independence (which is actually Sept. 16)
2. This celebrates a Mexican Military Victory from the Battle of Puebla (1862).

Be responsible and honor this tradition respectfully.

📰IN BEER NEWS📰

“One stand out beer I recently had was from a trip in Harrisburg I took on Friday 4/30. My wife and I stopped at and instantly were impressed. Originally we heard about them from our buddies from . I made sure to make this pit stop before ending our mini beer tour. Although the location may seem strange, which is located in a shopping plaza, there is nothing strange about the beautiful decor and “luxurious space”. Not to mention the flight I got had probably some of my personal favorites from the day.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Darkness is the featured beer. It stands out the most from my trip and is being talk about today since it’s Cinco de Mayo. Extremely rich in chocolate flavor, it hits the nose just right. A sweet finish with extra heat from the chiles just makes this beer delicious. For me, easily a 4.5 out of 5. I regret not getting a crowler to go. Highly recommend getting out to Mellow Mink, you will not be disappointed”.

“Good people drink good beer”

In the words of Hunter S. Thompson, the tripping king himself said it best! Our next stop on our Florida tour ... ! What can I say that hasn’t already been said “ groovy”, “far out” and spectacular space! Set wayyyy west of Miami in Doral is where Tripping animals has made their jungle. The first thing to notice when walking in is it’s DARK. The chill out music and layout was the perfect tone for its namesake. Mushroom wallpaper and a mural of past beer releases flow throughout the brewery. Towards the back there is a big glass wall to see through to the production facility. Out the back is a great tropical courtyard with chill out tables and lounge chairs to complete the “trip experience “. We even spotted in his natural habitat sipping some brews! All in all a 10 out of 10. Next time your mind is in a haze, just head down to “The Jungle” for a good time!!!
thanks for the recommendations again!

What’s going on brew crew? We hope your week has started off right! We needed to share this because the generosity in this community is unreal. We also haven’t made a post in a while and needed to recognize some individuals.

Although we have mentioned it a few times, we wanted to official address this special delivery that was dropped off at house in PA. We first got this mystery package during our hiatus in January; it contained these two beautiful crafted sours from . We’re not sure who sent it but it truly means a lot to us for people to go out of their way and send us some free beer. We are still waiting to try them together [we’ll be posting description after we review them - because let’s face it, they are sours and we’re expecting great things!]. We also anticipate making an episode out of it, so stay tuned! Most importantly, thank you again to that mystery person!

Then a month later, a second package came courtesy of Becky and the team from . We can’t thank them enough for the beers! This package included a Hefeweizen, a Black Lager and a tasty looking cream ale and two others!! We can’t wait to visit soon. You can find them just north of the Poconos! Be sure to find all their releases and info at www.Wallenpaupackbrewingco.com. Thanks again guys, we really appreciate it your kindness!

This post was just to give some insight to how amazing some people are. We are constantly so impressed with the way this community acts and how some people look out for one another and share [at least in our experiences]. Thank you everyone for your continued support and certainly for the beers! MORE BEER MEANS MORE EPISODES!!

Be sure to watch out for some awesome news, and get on IG for our special anniversary episode tomorrow night (Wednesday 4/28/21 @ 7:30 PM EST), where we chat we our good friends at with Owner Kevin Ryan and the man with the plan, head brewer, Todd Reinhardt ! BIG NEWS TO BE ANNOUNCED!! Looking forward to seeing you all there!! Until next time, PEACE!!! ✌🏼🕊

Florida Brewery Tour STOP 3

J. Wakefield Brewing
next stop, the one the only . Having been here a few times this place never disappoints. In the heart of the Wynwood district of Miami, J. Wakefield a neighborhood staple. Their front courtyard is met with an ever-changing mural “Star Wars “ theme. Inside is also greeted with DC/Marvel super hero mural of epic proportions. Lastly, a brewery mural wouldn’t be complete with out a rendering of the bar from Tatoonie! As for the the beer, nothing less than amazing. Known for their groundbreaking stouts, I veered off at first and tried their “THICC X HAZY” IPA which was rich and delicious. I couldn’t leave without sampling two epic stouts. “Choose one” a J. Wake / OH collab and “Double Barrel Fluffernutter Black Aggie” from Hidden Springs Ale Works. Both were 🤯🤯🤯. If you’re ever in Miami or even south Florida, J. Wakefield is a right of passage for any beer aficionado! Thank you for the hospitality and time. Looking forward to returning once again.
THICC X HAZY (8% NEIPA)-

Introducing THICCC x HAZY, a DDH Hazy Oat Cream IPA that was pounded with loads of flaked oats and wheat. We then generously double dry hopped it with Azacca, Cryo Amarillo & Cryo Mosaic hops.

The JWB Version

Choose One, Mostra Coffee Roasters Philippine Sitio Belis & Coconut with our homies Other Half, and with Mostra Coffee. To choose a coffee for this stout, we landed on Sitio Bells that has a creamy, smooth body and notes of milk chocolate, honeysuckle, cinnamon and Meyer lemon. Complex and powerful enough to play nicely with the macaroon cut coconut we use, also from the Philippines.

🎉H A P P Y F R I D A Y🎉

It’s been one hell of a busy week, and we all hope you enjoyed our most recent IG Live: Hoppy Hour (if you haven’t seen it go check it out!). During that episode we had the chance, nay, the PRIVILEGE to get our hands on “As Above, So Below” by - courtesy of the amazing team there via a mail drop including several other amazing beers (Hydra 🤤🤤).

“My original sense was this beer was gonna be a BANGER. Right from the crack of the can huge coffee and roasted malted notes. Amazing aftertaste and easily one of the more notable coffee stouts I’ve had in recent years.”

“Well balanced , light texture chocolate on the nose, great coffee finish. So much to the point it’s the first time I’ve seen coffee grind left as sediment in the glass.”

As Above, So Below - 10% ABV

“This Imperial Coffee Stout is brewed with a favorite local coffee. It is a full-bodied with loads of coffee and then finishes with hints of rum, cinnamon, pecan, and chocolate.

The concept implies that the visible stars in the sky are linked to life on earth, and that the microcosm and the macrocosm are connected. The human world is related to the larger universe. Everything is connected.”

What’s a more noteworthy stout you’ve had in the recent months and how does that make you decide on what to drink next?! WE WANT TO KNOW!

“Heading south for the winter!”
Florida Brewery Tour Stop 1
After a long hiatus ... BYA is back! did some soul searching in South Florida and stopped at some killer spots along the way. His first stop was based out of Ft. Lauderdale. It’s a one of a kind museum of natural history meets urban warehouse district. Loaded floor to ceiling with all varieties of taxidermy. The vibe was dark and very laid back. The 90’s hip hop music playing in the background set the mood. The brewery was split down the middle, half taproom half barrel aging/ production room. Beyond the bar was a small back patio for outdoor seating. The beer was exceptional as I got to sample “Teenie Lamborghini” a Citra/Mosaic supercharged TIPA! In a city with a lot of options, I highly recommend INVASIVE SPECIES as a must stop if you’re looking for quality SoFL beers.
Shout-out to for the recommendation !!
