Altrincham Word Fest is all finished for 2020. Using Zoom for all our events involved a steep learning curve - mainly for Yoko, our technical whizz. Has learning to sew been on your New Years resolution list forever? We often hear people tell us that they’ve wanted to learn for ages but they’ve been afraid to try, or that high school Textiles class put them off 🤦🏻‍♀️⠀

One year ago my sister, .proctor , decided that she wanted to try to learn to make her own clothes. 12 months later she’s the proud owner of a brilliant sewing machine and she’s casually filling up her wardrobe with self made garments 🎉⠀

She wore her gorgeous to our Christmas Frocktails last week, made using our grey supersoft ribbed jersey. I wore my party favourite, my pleated circle skirt from the and my newest make, the in our new burgundy velvet, which is so comfortable I think I’ll be wearing it the whole festive season! 💃🏻🥂⠀

Thank you to everyone that has been in the shop this week and so sorry I wasn’t there to meet you. I was warned with chemo that you can pick up bugs while your immune system is down but I wasn’t ready for how hard it would hit. Thank goodness Diane from the Ice Cream Cafe helped with everyone’s purchases. I’m back in and should be ok for the weekend. It’s small business Saturday so by coming here you’re supporting two independents. We look forward to seeing you. The shop is full of Christmas gifts & decorations and there are fresh Christmas trees, ice cream and hot chocolate. The farm animals in the barns are waiting for you too.

It might not be pretty, but ’s garlic is damn delicious! And you lot have eaten 85kg of it so far! They’ll be planting next year’s crop on Tuesday but in the meantime, snap up the last of this year’s harvest this week...they’re here today and Sunday.

What else is good? There’s an abundance of sprout tops, leeks, red cabbages, kale, cavolo nero, spinach, celeriac, carrots, chioggia beetroot, onions, broccoli, parsnips, onions, leeks, squashes, tomatoes, apples, pears and mushrooms...

Plus potatoes and eggs from just down the road, and salad from Glebelands in Sale.

The shop is looking so magical. I thought I would miss my little shop in Altrincham at Christmas but I love this more. We’ve decorated the cafe with fairy lights and the farm has fresh Christmas trees for sale this weekend. Remember we are at Ash Farm and not in Dunham Massey park.
