This episode, in which we discuss issue #36, the second part of the Paste Pot Pete . . . uh . . . we mean, The Trapster saga, will be our final episode for the year 2023. One of our cast is recovering from a shoulder surgery and this has prevented us from recording on the schedule that we're used to. We decided to take a few weeks off for the holidays.

We'll be back in 2024 for the second half of our season!

Except maybe not Kyle. You guys might want us to fire him after the controversial thing he says in this episode.

Happy holidays, friends!

For Issue 35, Gene and Stan pull another obscure villain from the annals of Marvel Comics history for a (mildly) compelling saga. It's Paste Pot Pete . . . uh . . . we mean The Trapster!

It's really too bad that Kyle has such a dirty mind.

Around 3:00 pm last Friday, we realized that we had never posted a new episode. It was the day after Thanksgiving, a busy holiday that allowed us to justify missing a week. Not to mention that the episode we would have been posting takes place in Canada, and that would have been weird since Thanksgiving is a distinctly American holiday!

We're back this week, though, with a discussion of issue #34, the second part of The Beetle story arc. As mentioned, the issue takes place in Canada. The Beetle is up to something dastardly and nefarious. And, ultimately, we're all three oh so proud of Foggy.

There's not much more irritating than following up a good issue with a stinky clunker. We should be used to this by now, but issue 30 was such a drastic improvement over the previous few issues that issue 31 being only so-so is a slap in our collective faces. Issue 31 isn't terrible, persay. It's uneventful.

Aaron's been telling his co-hosts for weeks that things start getting better around issue 30. Well, here we are at issue 30, which features a guest appearance by The Mighty Thor, two of his villains, and a ludicrous plot element that we liked better when J. J. Abrams included it in "Mission: Impossible 3". Are things actually improving around here?

It should be clear by now that the content and quality of "Daredevil" in the early days wasn't up to the standards of other Marvel comics being published at the time. Unfortunately, Stan Lee and Gene Colan sink to new levels of mediocrity with issue 28.

We know, we know, it’s been five months since we ended season 1. But we’ve been working diligently for the past several months to get our release schedule back on track.

Episode 27 . . . in which we discuss issue #26 of Daredevil, The Man Without Fear . . . will drop on Friday, September 29, 2023. One more week, friends!

Issue 25 of "Daredevil" introduced a character that makes us laugh. It also, however, introduced a character that makes us really, really mad.

This episode was recorded via Zoom, so it runs and flows a little different than our previous episodes. We're not in the same room and we're not talking over one another! It's the politest episode we've ever done.

It is also, unfortunately, our last episode for a while. Please check out the webpage in the link below for an explanation.

Issue 24 features the return of a guest star that we weren't excited about the first time and features the return of a villain that should never have existed in the first place. Along the way, we learn a couple of things: Rodney's dog is fast and Aaron sometimes lies.

This is . . . um . . . a weird episode.

Therein, we discuss issue 21 of "Daredevil", an issue so earth-shatteringly terrible that not even the artwork of Gene Colan can save it. We're all three a little dumber having read it.

Rodney can't read page numbers! Aaron destroys a comic book! Kyle is a self-proclaimed as***le!

In this week's episode of "The Devil's Archive", we discuss issue 20, the premiere of Aaron's favorite comic book artist of all time in the pages of "Daredevil." The story is the thrilling conclusion to the Masked Marauder/Gladiator team-up that ended John Romita's run with a cliffhanger.

Wait a minute . . . that's not what happens in this issue at all!

The final issue of John Romita's run on "Daredevil" forces us to ponder many questions about "our" favorite comic book? Namely, are two lame villains better than one?

Also, we teach Kyle about the Marvel No-Prize.

This week, we discuss issue 18. This issue features a guest writer and the premier of a new villain. There's also a ridiculous story, some unapologetic fat-shaming, and some of the worst art we've ever seen from John Romita. All three of us feel dumber having read this nonsense.

This week on "The Devil's Archive", we get disappointed that the newest issue is just a rehash of the last one, angry that Foggy turns out to be a bigger idiot than we originally thought, and get confused when Aaron uses a big word.

John Romita's landmark run continues in issue #17.

In this week's episode of "The Devil's Archive", we discuss issue 16. This issue is valuable to collectors as it marks the very first time that esteemed artist John Romita ever drew the character that would eventually make him legendary.

We're talking about Spider-Man, y'all!

We think.

We're not completely sure.

Issue 15 has a little bit of everything:

-- beautiful artwork by John Romita
-- the introduction of a compelling new villain
-- a thought-provoking use of an old villain
-- well-done pulse-pounding action
-- no billy club shenanigans
-- a plot element that makes us roll our collective eyes because of its sheer ridiculousness

Are you allowed to say "butt plug" on Facebook? I guess this is the week that we find out!

Kyle says it many, many times in this week's episode while discussing issue #14.

This issue is the final installment of the three-issue story arc that introduces The Plunderer into the pantheon of Marvel Comics villains. Not only are the three of us unimpressed, but we're also pretty glad to see him go.

This week on "The Devil's Archive", we discuss #13.

This episode dissects the second issue in John Romita's run, which continues our trek to the Savage Land and continues our adventures with Ka-Zar and Parnival Plunder. We actually end up discussing a lot more than issue #13, mostly because #13 itself isn't really worth discussing. It's slightly better than the god awful issue #12, to be certain, but even novels by Dan Brown are better than issue #12.

Isn't that right, Rodney?

This week on "The Devil's Archive", we dive into issue 12, the first part of a three-issue story arc that introduces a new villain, introduces a new version of an old character that nobody really knew existed in the first place, and introduces a phenomenal new artist in the pencils of "Jazzy" John Romita.

Unfortunately, it also introduces a new psychological disorder for Kyle. The dinosaurs are too much for him.

Happy New Year from the cast at "The Devil's Archive"!

We decided a month or so ago that we were never going to get through all 650+ issues of "Daredevil" before we're old and grey (two of us are already pretty close) if we're only going to release 26 episodes a year. We decided to fast track things a little bit by dropping episodes weekly.

Next Friday, we'll drop episode 12.

Today, we're dropping this bonus episode that we recorded. Aaron, Kyle, and Rodney take a break from Stan Lee 1960s camp and go on a detour to 2001 to allow Kyle to experience something more contemporary. For this interlude, Aaron handpicked one of his favorite Daredevil-related limited series, "Yellow", Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's masterful retelling of the original six issues.

Go to the webpage and check out Tim Sale's artwork. It's positively swoon-worthy!

In last week's episode, Kyle and Aaron got a little giddy about how much fun Wally Wood's "writing debut" turned out to be. Rodney trashed it because it "did nothing for him."

In this week's episode, we break down the second part of that story arc. This one's written by Stan, though. How does Stan's installment fare with "The Devil's Archive" cast?

It occurred to us, many months after recording it, that we should have made a bigger deal in the episode about reaching the milestone of ten entries in our ongoing deep dive into the history of "Daredevil, The Man Without Fear".

Ten episodes! Man. Only 640+ more to go!

Please make sure to check out the webpage today, not only for images of the artwork we discuss, but for a special message from us to you in honor of our tenth episode!
