"𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘢 is on the shortlist of the James Tait Black Prize, for which I’m grateful."

And I edited it. So chuffed. 🙂

This award follows, among others for other books, the Commonwealth Writers Prize, the Betty Trask Award, the Encore Prize, the LA Times Book Prize, and the Sahitya Akademi Award.

An absorbing blend of books offering fresh takes on themes such as the intricacies of relationships, cultural identity and journeys of self-discovery form the shortlist of Britain’s longest-running literary prizes

I was introduced to Kaushik Mitra days before I began editing his 'Hundred Days of Summer' (the second in his planned trilogy, 'Crossing Over').

And this was deep editing: days of frantic conversations with him punctuated by protracted - even yawning - gaps in interaction when I went down the lexical rabbit hole and he sweated it out.

The result is an eminently readable novel about three schoolfriends, now grown and with separate lives and professional impulses, but, nevertheless, united by les nœuds de l'enfance - the bonds of childhood, as binding as they are strained by time.

I'm happy to announce that Amit Chaudhuri's mémoire musicale, 'Finding the Raga', is out - and that I had a hand in its "meticulous fact-checking" (not that Amit, more scrupulous with words than anyone I've edited, ever slips a gear).

The undiscovered writers in our midst, who are legion.

Don't they deserve their moment in the sun?

Small publishers find themselves in a tight corner — GST has hit where it hurts with increased production costs, Amazon is squeezing the average bookstore out of business and celebrity sells.

"Born in Brighton in 1861, [Constance] Garnett translated 70 volumes from Russian, including all Dostoyevsky’s baggy monsters. She was an indefatigable worker who moved through the literary and political circles of a troubled time and emerged as a heroine, always on the side of the poor and oppressed, fighting in a man’s world."

My first publication was a translation, not something I wrote myself. It was an essay in Greek about the poet C.P. Cavafy for a literary anthology of that kind of thing. Before taking up Modern Gre…

Everyone has a story to tell.

Everyone needs help to tell it well.

This is where I come in.

You write. I polish your writing to as close to perfection as it can get.

In short, I edit your work. Crossing the ts and dotting the is are the least of what I do.

This is the lineup of the services I offer, singly and an amalgamation of two or more:

1️⃣ Reading and detailed feedback.
2️⃣ Line editing, or grammatical and
syntactical polishing.
3️⃣ Content editing, including factchecking
and rewriting in line with your style.

Whether yours is a work of fiction or of nonfiction, a fullblown novel or a compact novella, a standalone book or an edited compendium, it will be my job - and, indeed, my pleasure - to make it shine amongst its peers.

🔵 Get in touch with me at [email protected].

That's the caravanserai where we'll sit down together, review your journey, and make it entirely fulfilling.
