I have some incredible news to share, and I'm reaching out to say thank you because your support has brought me from 6th place to an astonishing 3rd place in the Fab Over 40 Grant Competition! The Fab Over 40 initiative is more than just a competition; it's an opportunity to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and support those who are fighting this battle. Cancer is a relentless foe, and it has personally touched my life. Eight years ago, I lost my beloved mom to this disease, and this competition serves as a heartfelt tribute to honor her legacy within me.
Now, you may be wondering, "Why am I Fab Over 40?" 🤔 At 44, I proudly embrace the roles of a single mother, pediatric occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience, mental health advocate, multiple best-selling author, TedX speaker, entrepreneur, nonprofit founder, life coach, consultant, and speaker. I have tirelessly served parents and children with special needs, offering my knowledge and expertise to make a difference in their lives.
Much of the community service work I've done has been funded from my own pocket, creating a financial strain on my family. I don't have a massive following or a loud public presence, so I often work quietly in the background. I consider myself the underdog in this competition, and I'm sure many of you can relate to feeling that way at times.
But I firmly believe that when we unite, we can turn the odds in our favor and achieve victory. That's why I'm pouring my heart and soul into this competition, giving it everything I've got. 🏆 Will you vote daily and share this post to inspire others to join us in this journey to the top?
Now, you might be curious about the prize, and let me tell you, it's extraordinary! The winner receives a 2-page spread in New Beauty magazine, $40,000 in cash, and a spa-cation! These rewards are not just for me; they will serve as the foundation to make an even greater impact in our society.
With the $40,000, I would use the funds to pay down personal debt accrued from investing in my youth community service initiatives related to youth and mental health. I'd take my wonderful teenagers on a well-deserved mini-vacation for the sacrifices they've made to support my community service. Lastly, I'd use the funds to invest back into my service work and nonprofit initiatives, particularly for youth, mental health, literacy, and to launch and fund the creation of a youth and young adult su***de and homicide awareness and prevention curriculum and mobile app to save lives and make a bigger impact in our society. Our youth are our future, and we're losing them at an alarming rate. Together, we can be the change!
In this competition, I was asked, "What advice would I give my younger self?" The answer is simple: I would say, "Liz, you are the most beautiful person in the world." It took me many years to realize that my beauty starts from recognizing the inner beauty within me, celebrating my kind heart, compassionate spirit, and viewing my ability to love and forgive as a strength and superpower, not a weakness.
I'd like to leave you with three important life lessons that have guided me:
1️⃣God's Glory Shines Through Obstacles! No matter the hurdles we face, God's light always finds its way.
2️⃣ Consistency is Key! It's a mantra that has illuminated my path through this journey.
3️⃣ Faithfulness in All Situations! Even in moments of uncertainty, God remains faithful.
