Grimlock after defeating Starscream. I'd already tested out so many techniques on this one I decided it's time to call him finished and move on. Some air brushed, some hand painted, some wax rubs.

My test bed Grimlock is now complete. Tried out a bunch of new paints, techniques, base colours and my first crack at lighting and fire effects. Video and more images to come tomorrow.
For a complete build that purely tests stuff prior to an even bigger Grimlock build, I'm stoked at how this came out.

This next one on the workbench is something of a group build. My son is building the Unicorn while I'm working on the RX-78. We picked both of these up while in the US last year and we've both been super keen to start, I just needed to finish my last build before starting another.

This was an interesting build. The kit appeared to leverage on The Fast and The Furious with the box art and kit coloured the same as the Supra but was an RX7. So I used this as a test bed for creating my own decals and a few custom parts, some things worked well, others not so much. In the end I just wanted to get the kit finished and take what I learnt into my next kit.

Found a flexible resin in black which is perfect to make tyres. Now to dial in the settings to get some good prints

Nearly finished. Just need to attach the rear elevators and drop tanks. First aircraft, first pre shading. Super stoked with how it turned out. Can't wait to gift this next week.

Shine Saturday, after not being able to do what I wanted when I picked it up earlier in the year it's now time for a good clay bar and a paint correction to clean up all the swirl marks.

So after a nice little holiday my backlog has grown significantly larger. Now it's time to make a start on the F/A-18 Hornet as a gift for someone who has helped me immensely through my transition. I managed to get a set of decals to kit it out as one of the 3SQN Hornets on Okra along with some custom decals I'm making just for this build.
