THE CABLE COMPARTMENT IS HERE!
This massive contraption arrived last Saturday, but I decided not to film an update until today because I had to wait for an extra accessory that the grommet plates needed to be fitted with.
These grommet plates were supposed to have a 60mm diameter hole, but due to a miscalculation, the holes went as big as 70mm, causing the USB comments to sink right through. That's where the acrylic rings that have a 60mm diameter hole came in. Huge shoutout to Radon Metal Fabrication for snappily coming up with a solution for it.
This might be the last update that I will be posting for the project as I will be doing a live stream where I reassemble the entire table from scratch (Yes, the clamping mechanism demands that the tabletop be pushed back a bit to keep the compartment from touching the left and right wings of the support beam).

PROJECT DULANG V2 UPDATE!
Sorry if I haven't posted about this project in a hot minute. Apparently, I did all sorts of fscked with the plywood version... 😅🤣 The clamping mechanism for the plywood version was so flimsy and out of spec that it can't stay in place no matter how tightly it's clamped to the back of my tabletop. Besides, the invisible hinges that I ordered will have to take a lid the thickness of two ¾" plywood planks sandwiched together, adding to the height of the compartment and forcing me to adjust the clamping brace to make the lid sit flush with the tabletop.
It was an absolute disaster, I know. But hey, ya boi's just trying to apply whatever woodworking skills he has (which isn't a lot, to begin with) 😆
So I decided to task the hella-skilled peeps at Radon Metal Fabrication to custom-craft a better-functioning cable compartment made out of steel sheets! This will be powder coated to match the color of the desk frame, and will definitely add more aesthetic value to the sit/stand desk once installed.
