Jimmy Hoffa with his friend Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. Frank has said “I’ll be a Hoffa man ’til they pat my face with a shovel and steal my cufflinks.” Shortly before Sheeran’s death in 2003, he confessed to killing Jimmy Hoffa in the memoir “I Heard You Paint Houses,” co-authored by Charles Brandt. The book was released in 2004, and that year bloodstains were found in the Detroit house where Sheeran claimed the murder happened. The blood tests taken in 2004 could only prove it was the blood of a male, but could not confirm it was Hoffa’s. We believe the blood should be retested today with the latest advances in forensics.

Jimmy Hoffa and his daughter Barbara, with son Jim and wife Josephine in 1956
Jimmy and his daughter Barbara have a special bond, and she has never given up on trying to get answers around her fathers death. She filed two Freedom of Information requests to the FBI and was turned down both times, and in 1989 she sued the Justice Department for access to the files.
The Justice Department says that the investigation is continuing, and that making the files public would jeopardize the case and has only released very heavily redacted files. Swipe right for an example.

Russell Bufalino was the boss of the Bufalino crime family in Northeastern Pennsylvania from 1959-1989. He was known as “The Quiet Don” for his low profile reputation. In 1955, he met truck driver Frank Sheeran, who began working for him and would serve as both a driver and a hitman. According to the book “I Heard You Paint Houses,” it was Bufalino that ordered the hit on Jimmy Hoffa, which forced Frank to kill his good friend Jimmy. The movie "The Irishman” is based on that book, and Joe Pesci plays the character of Russell Bufalino.

Hoffa dropped out of school at a young age and began working full time to help support the family. As a teenager he worked on the loading docks for Kroger Grocery, a job with poor working conditions, low wages, and minimal job security. It was here that a young Hoffa organized his first labor strike by getting fellow workers to refuse to unload a new shipment of strawberries until Kroger agreed to a new deal. In danger of an entire shipment of strawberries going bad, he landed a better contract for him and his coworkers.

Chuckie O’Brien was known as Jimmy Hoffa’s adopted son. Hoffa took him in at a young age and when he became president of the Teamsters. O’Brien became his special assistant, closest aide and companion from the early 1950s into the 70s. Hoffa and O’Brien had a falling out in 1974. Chuckie was a leading suspect in Hoffa’s disappearance when the government accused him of driving the car that picked up Hoffa at the Machus Red Fox Restaurant on July 30, 1975. Chuckie vehemently denied being any part of Hoffa’s disappearance until he passed away on February 13, 2020.

When JFK was elected President, he appointed his brother Robert Kennedy as Attorney General. The Kennedy brother’s crusade against Hoffa was relentless. Bobby assembled a “Get Hoffa” squad and engaged in questionable tactics to go after Jimmy for corruption. The feud between them was deeply personal. Jimmy took to calling Bobby Kennedy “Booby” to add fuel to the fire. They truly hated each other. Hoffa was eventually convicted in 1967 and sent to prison for 13 years, but was released in 1971. Serving time and the resulting loss of his role as Teamster president were blows we believe Jimmy never recovered from and changed him forever.

“Hoffa himself once told a researcher that he expected to die a ‘violent, early death’--a belief that accounted, he said, for his unwillingness to have a large family--and Josephine had no reason to omit this possibility from her list of concerns. She often told her spouse that, as frail as she habitually was, she was afraid that he would die first.”-from Arthur Sloane’s biography “Hoffa”
