August 2 will mark the next drop of our labor of love, and we will be chatting about this little beauty: Ready Player One!

For those of you who haven’t heard of it, Good Reads gives us this intro to the novel:

IN THE YEAR 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them.

But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.

How’s everyone doing with their read?

Did you know that the obelisk, referred to as "Cleopatra's Needle" in the book Witches of New York was a real feature?
Cleopatra's Needle is the popular name for each of three Ancient Egyptian obelisks re-erected in London, Paris, and New York City during the nineteenth century. The obelisks in London and New York are a pair; the one in Paris is also part of a pair originally from a different site in Luxor, where its twin remains.
Moving the massive 200 ton structure from Alexandria, Egypt was tricky business. They had to move it onto its side (and nearly broke it in the process) and roll it onto a steamship through a large opening cut into the side of the hull.
Fun Fact: there's a time capsule buried beneath the New York obelisk! It contains an 1870 U.S. census, a Bible, a Webster’s Dictionary, the complete works of William Shakespeare, a guide to Egypt, and a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Additionally, a small box was also placed in the capsule by the man who orchestrated the Obelisk’s purchase and transportation; to this day, its contents are unknown. I wonder what he put in?
