Overnight, TasNetworks and Tasmania Fire Service crews have responded to multiple sparking power lines/power pole fires.
At approximately 10:00pm TFS reponded to a small power pole fire and a sparking power line at the intersection of Queechy & Penquite Roads, Norwood.
Shortly after (at approximately 10:40pm) crews were called to a power line sparking over Abbott St, East Launceston.
Tasnetworks were in attendance at both locations, rectifying the issues.
At approximately 11.30pm on Wednesday 29th November 2023 Launceston Police attended at the Ampol Service Station on Westbury Road, Prospect. On arrival they located a 27-year-old man from Glenorchy on the rooftop of the service station in a distressed state.
The man was armed with a knife and made threats to set alight the business. Tas Fire and Tas Ambulance joined police on scene.
After a short interaction with police, during which it is understood TFS were required to extinguish a fire burning on the roofop, the man was taken into custody without any injuries or further incidents and taken to the Launceston Police Station where he was detained for further investigations to be done.
The man was later interviewed by police and charged with arson, breach of bail, unlawfully possess a dangerous article in a public place and recklessly discharge a missile to the danger of another person. He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11:30am today.

At approximately 11:20pm last night emergency services attended reports of a power pole fire after a transformer had failed in Grubb St, Mowbray.
Crews arrived to live wires down with the power flickering and surging.
Tas networks attended and were on scene for some time rectifying the issue.

At approximately 5:30pm on Sunday the 23rd July 2023, emergency services were called to attend a residence Janet Street, Kings Meadows following a reported explosion at the home.
Attending emergency services found four patients ranging in age from five years old to 49 years old.
The 49 year old male was found to have extensive burns to his face, body and airways. The male was transported by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital and then via air ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital. The male is described as being in a critical but stable condition.
A five year old child and nine year old child and a 17 year old youth were transported to and treated at the Launceston General Hospital for none life threatening injuries. All have since been released.
Officers from Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service are investigating the circumstances of the fire and explosion. Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause of the fire and explosion was accidental.

*UPDATE* The scene is now clear and both lanes are open.

Emergency services are on scene of a 2 vehicle crash on Lilydale Road (approx. half way up finger post hill).
The driver of one of the vehicles is believed to be trapped inside, all other occupants from both vehicles are out. Injuries are unknown at this stage.
Lilydale road is currently blocked in both directions and motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Emergency services are currently on scene of a 2 vehicle MVA on Lindsay Street in Invermay, where a motorcycle has collided with the back of a car.
It is believed the rider of the motorcycle has sustained serious injuries although this cannot be confirmed at this stage.
A section of Lindsay st between East Tamar Highway and Doyne Street is currently closed to all traffic.
