A novel by our author Quraisha Dawood 💡

Read “Stirring the Pot” by Quraisha Dawood to my eleven-year-old son over a period of a week. We really enjoyed the experience. He would eagerly call me to read every night before bed and beg me to read just a “few more” pages. What a delightful story! On Tuesday he was planning to spend the upcoming Eid at Summer Terrace with one of the lead characters, Aunty Ruki and then last night as we read the last few pages, we shed tears with Rabia and Zaina and Shirin. He made observations about the 70 dozen Samoosas being too little for 8 families for the whole of Ramadaan and that he can’t believe that Shirin actually went to the movies when...
I can’t give too much away now 😁! A must read novel! And I already attempted a few recipes! ! A must read! Rated 5 stars by Zaheera Jina Asvat and her son 🧐

She enjoys playing outside with her dog, Figo. She loves everything nature related and being outdoors. Mishka collects and studies bugs and has had many ladybugs as friends. She even collects bugs for her friends at school. Mishka is a water lover and swims at every opportunity she gets. She is a bookworm but also passes the time with watercolour art and drawing. One day, she hopes to become a famous runner and best-selling author.

He has a keen eye for how things work, so his crafts often include intricately placed moving parts that interact in the most wonderful ways. Haroon would love to be an author, illustrator and creator of amazing inventions one day.

Shadeed Davids is a sociable thirteen year old boy who loves to be around his friends, especially while playing sport. He loves football and dreams to be a world-class football player someday. He has an active lifestyle and enjoys the outdoors, riding his bicycle and swimming. He also loves challenging his friends in video games and spends hours drawing with markers. Being a writer was never on his radar, but he has learned a new skill and talent through this process.

Ihsaan Domingo is an 8-year-old boy with many interests. He enjoys playing the piano, cooking and baking with his mom and doing creative projects, like woodwork and all types of arts and crafts. He loves intricate colouring designs and is a huge fan of fantasy movies and books. He has enjoyed rearing his pet chameleons Jack and Arrow, and is now the proud grandpa of 36 chameleon babies! He hopes to be a gynaecologist and an interior designer when he grows up.

Rumaysa Bham is an enthusiastic, fun, active, creative and artistic 10 year old. She loves reading, and you will often find her lost in her books, riding her bike in the neighbourhood, or on a learning adventure and anything outdoors! She often fills her home with delicious smells as she is a keen and aspiring baker. She hopes to inspire those she encounters with the beauty of her religion (Islam). Her dream is to travel around the world and explore different countries. She would love to write a poem on each country and perhaps also become a doctor, which she knows would help in assisting others.
