The Great Reboot with Flowfold and James Morin

A company that started out of the creation of a lightweight wallet made from sailcloth has shifted direction and is now in pandemic mode, creating PPE’s, personal protection equipment. Flowfold is making thousands of face shields to help healthcare workers on the frontline of treating patients with COVID19. The special shield is designed to protect providers’ full faces from any possible droplet exposure from infected patients. The company’s COO, James Morin, says the company wanted to do something to help and within 8 days was able to shift from wallets and outdoor gear to making face shields. Morin says it was the right thing to do and employees jumped into action.

Indigenous rights attorney, teacher, international speaker and author Sherri Mitchell connects what we are going through right now with this pandemic to ancient teachings. She is the product of two First Nations: Penobscot and Passamaquoddy and grew up in Penobscot Nation on Indian Island, Maine. Her book, Sacred Instructions, outlines four Native American prophecies and our responsibilities in managing the transformation of our consciousness and the direction of our movement during this critical time. Mitchell says one of those prophecies is COVID19.

It started as an epiphany in Ellie Linen Low’s Portland home. “Cooking for Community”, sprouted in direct response to the COVID19 pandemic, launched an innovative approach to feeding a growing hungry and underserved population in the Greater Portland, Maine area. Through a collaboration among committed community supporters, two Portland restaurants, Chaval and Little Giant and local growers, as well as financial donors, the group cooks up warm, fresh meals using local ingredients to feed hundreds each day.
