Black Stories Project Black people in the US often have to edit their stories to survive in a white-washed society. This is the Black Stories Project.

We are creating space for black people to laugh, cry, be vulnerable, and tell their stories in full.

Hey!

Our production company is working on its latest project and we could use your help!We are raising money for a gritty drama about the dark side of addiction. Our short film follows a black person from the city who meets a white woman from Appalachia and documents how their bond changes their trajectories forever. If you could donate or spread the word to anyone who you think may be interested in supporting the project, we would be so so grateful!

By the Lake is a gritty drama that amplifies the war of addiction - the battle to get clean and the battle to stay clean. It follows two addicts from different sides of the track, who meet during their one day of overlap at a rehab center, and change each other's trajectories forever.

A year ago, Sable Williams and I sparked the idea for a short film depicting the reality of addiction. In one week, we start production armed with a badass crew what is 100% women and nonbinary folks, 47% BIPOC, 47% LGBTQIA, and 100% great energy. I am proud to say we are not only trying to make great art, but trying to revolutionize the process of making great art: focusing on artists’ wellness, intersectional representation in front and behind camera, and a process that flows instead of grinds.

Today we launch our Seed & Spark campaign to raise money for our production. You can check it out here and learn more about our mission, our team, and how you can support us!
