This song reminds me of one of my favorite verses, Psalm 126:5, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.”

If you find yourself in a valley tonight, wondering how long God will keep you there, I hope this song brings comfort.

If you find yourself on a mountaintop tonight, I hope this song brings a moment of thankfulness for all God has done to get you there.

Thank you, Lord, for the valleys and the mountaintops. And thank you, Donna, for sharing this song tonight. ❤️🙏❤️

Would you believe your silly mom thought this day would somehow get easier? I can see you grinning now and nodding your head, “yes....

You’re so much more than ornaments on our Christmas tree, sweet Nick. You are the smile tucked in my heart on the saddest days and worn on my face on the happiest days. You are the nudge to say “yes” when I want to say “no.” You are the courage I need to face each new unknown. You are the laugh that fills our home. You are the glue that still holds our family together. I see you in your brother’s eyes. I hear you in your nieces’ voice. There’s a not a day that has gone by in the past 15 years when something or someone has reminded me of you. This will be true until the day I hug you in Heaven. Today we remember the day God asked to share you with Him, but I am so thankful for all the ways He still allows you to walk through life with us. Grief is so hard. But Hope is such a beautiful gift. Nick, our Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh may I then in Him be found. Dressed in his righteousness alone.
Faultless to stand before the throne. On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.

Thank you for all of the thoughtful birthday wishes!!! Being able to see so many of your names pop up on Facebook and in texts made my day extra extra special!! I love you all so much!! You made celebrating my 58th trip around the Sun so much more meaningful as I was envisioned your faces in my mind and remembered the wonderful chapters of life we have shared or share now! God has been so good to fill my life with so much love and joy even as I walk through the rest of my days with grief as a constant companion. He truly does keep His promise from Psalm 126:5, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” I pray each of your lives, no matter how painful or difficult they may feel at times, will overflow with Hope and Peace and Joy as you trust in Him for each new sunrise. God bless you ALL!! ❤️❤️🙏🙏

I wanted to take a minute and say, “Hi!! My name is Tammy. I also go by Mom, Madre, T-Mom, MiMi, Aunt Tammy, and Tamaw. I love all my names and all the people who call me by them. But more than anything, I love knowing that the One who knew me before I was even born 57 years ago calls me His child and has my name written on the palm of His hand. He loves you in the very same way and our names are on His hand together! I am so thankful for His faithful presence in my life on the good days and the not-so-good. On the easy days and the hard. My husband and I have four amazing adult children, two beautiful daughter-in-laws, one wonderful son-in-law, and the cutest, funniest little Gingersnap for a granddaughter. We also have a precious six-week old daughter and thirteen-year old son waiting for us in Heaven. Life has been full of twists and turns and I have had many professions in my life: legal secretary, full-time mom, babysitter, church children’s director, school teacher, professional photographer, freelance writer, author, women’s speaker, blogger, podcaster, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Several of these roles were and are happening simultaneously, and I have found that I am a better human when I am living with purpose and passion. My book Facing Dawn is available on Amazon and is a devotional for people walking the painful road of grief. I am currently working on my second book which will help women (and maybe some men) create space for God as they start each day. As Christians, we live on foreign territory and must be equipped for attacks from the enemy. He is relentless and cunning, but he is also powerless when we are able to stand up against his schemes with the Word of God. I have found memorizing Scripture one of my best tools for surviving on enemy soil and I hope you also find ways to hide verses in your heart to pull out at just the right time for just the right reason. I would love to know more about you! Inbox me or leave a comment below!! “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go!!” Joshua1:9

I noticed tiny lilacs blooming in our backyard this morning, and I was reminded of a very specific moment in an American Literature class I was taking the fall after losing our daughter to SIDS. We were reading a poem by Walt Whitman entitled, “When Lilacs Last in the Door-yard Bloom’d,” and the grief I carried into every class session could no longer be hidden from my peers. As we read Whitman’s words, mourning the death of Abraham Lincoln, I found myself mourning all over again the loss of my spring baby. Grief does not wait for an invitation to surface. Grief shows up when and where and how it wants. Today if you’re feeling the pain of loss, please know you are not alone. Spring flowers bring Hope, but they also bring a sometimes painful reminder of the many reasons we need this Hope every single day of my life.

I can’t believe you should be turning thirty years old tomorrow! How different our lives would look if you were still with us today. As you slipped away in the night, you ushered in a whole new course of direction for our family. You changed us all in big and small ways, and your precious little life still matters, Adrienne Annabeth. It always will. I miss you so much. Six and a half weeks just wasn’t enough. Happy Birthday in Heaven! See you soon! 💕💕

I’m reading a book by in which she talks about the story of the grasshopper and the ant. Analyzing the story, she calls the ants the “if only” of the story. “If only everyone could be ants.” Hardworking. Prepared. Upstanding. And then she provides an alternative “if only” that stopped me in my tracks and caused me to interrupt my husband’s reading (which I often do when words move me) so I could read a paragraph aloud. “If only life we’re stable, happy, and predictable as to produce ants instead of grasshoppers, year in, year out. The truth is that we all have ant years and grasshopper years-years in which we are able to prepare and save and years where we need a little help. Our true flaw lies not in failing to store up enough resources to cope with the grasshopper years, but in believing that each grasshopper year is an anomaly, visited only on us, due to our unique human failings.” Wow. This pandemic has shoved a lot of the world into grasshopper-kind-of-years. Lean. Weak. Struggling. If you’re blessed enough to be an ant right now, look around. Who can you help? If you’re feeling more like a grasshopper, don’t be afraid to admit it. We’re all a little bit of both.
